**ATI RADEON 7800 SERIES NOW AVAILABLE!!**

Oh god not another one who refuses to see any other logic than his own and then starts the insults.

Never mind. It seems you are incapable of understanding what I said to you so fair play.

No, you're just wrong, but I bet you haven't even considered this alternative. I attempted reason, you failed to comprehend and even had the tenacity to suggest I was incorrect on what is an extremely simple issue to understand. Even AMD has stated the 7800s are the replacement for the 5800s, look at the slide they released. It is right there in front of you. For this reason, as a matter of undeniable fact, you either a) can't grip simple ideas, or b) revel in trolling.

I think it's b.

Edit: I just don't understand the price/performance thing that's going on in the mid-range now.
If you are a person who doesn't like to spend more than £200 on GPUs, then you're out of options really.
You can't buy any more performance now than you could 1 and a half years ago...[/QUOTE]

This, couldn't agree more, cant better my ageing 470 @ £140.:(

This is exactly the situation I'm in atm. Sat here with £200 and nothing is better than what I sold. /doh :o

Can anyone tell me if it would be worth removing the heatsink off a 7800 series and applying arctic silver instead of the default paste?

I did this with my XFX 4850/XFX 4890 and my current Sapphire 6870 with Zalman Super Thermal Grease 2 and it took at least 5c off all 3 of them. And i also noticed the original paste that was on them wasnt too well done in the first place.

I read a Thermal Paste review some time ago and they stated that AS5 was better for CPU's and other paste like the Zalman STG2 was better for GPU's.

So yea i change the paste on all my new GPU's :)

Absolutely - its crazy pricing - iv just seen the club 3d 6950 on oc for pre-order for £180 - for me thats the best value doing the rounds at present, but having said that, it should be cheaper due to the 7850s just around the corner

all this jazz about the 7800s being the 6800s replacements is rubbish - same price and performance as 6900s = no progression

Are people slating Intel for their relatively marginal improvements? Especially the ticks.

Power efficiency is becoming more and more important to tech manufacturers.

If you buy a new system now, you will go 78xx/79xx card while the upgrade market probably isn't as large.

Thanks man i am waiting on ocuk getting gigabyte windforce variant 7870 then i will re-apply arctic silver. thankyou

Which is better out of the 6950 and the 7850, they seem to be trading blows fairly equally and Ive read around that the 7850 produces significantly less heat?

Well there are no 'stock' 7850's they all have 3rd party coolers, but based on the fact that the 7850 is die shrunk, less power hungry, and cooler running, it should be a fair bit quieter, especially with the uprated coolers.

I'm eyeing up the MSI 7850 TFIII myself.
