##Atomic Heart thread##

I think I'm close to uninstalling this. I played around an hour last night and was really enjoying it. It runs great and I love the art style - the protaganist is annoying, but I was willing to see past that. However, just got to the bit with Buravs and the platforming section (pipe and ledges) and it is driving me mad. The platforming controls are awful and once I have somehow managed those I forget exactly where the Burav comes through the wall and I'm dead, back to the checkpoint. Not fun at all.

Is it just me or is this game pretty hard? The humanoids are really tough to beat this Is on satandard difficulty too (the middle option)

Also no Vsync working? It's blanked out. And no HDR? What in the 2015 is this?

I had it greyed out but after some update it is now working on my end. You can always force it via nvidia driver though.

As for enemies being hard, make sure to use all tools at disposal - after upgrading some guns and especially using elemental cartridges, they go down significantly faster.

I know what you mean. I like the game, but it is not as good as I had hoped. I am going to have another go tonight and see how I get on. I may go back to Hogwarts which I am enjoying a lot more and wait a month or so and hope we get RT or HDR support, maybe even both.

If it does get taken down by MS though I feel it won't be the end of the world to be honest.
 
Had a go again. Yep, going back to Hogwarts for now. I can see what Skillup means, a few weird choices here in game design. Definitely a game I will enjoy but no rush, will and hopefully play it with RT and HDR soon.
 
It's a great game engine implementation and visually stunning, runs great etc etc. Just the script and direction is B movie grade. And the omission of FOV out of the box cannot be excused especially them saying it will be added in a future update which is just laughable, simply add a small patch....

At least it has ultrawide support though :p:D

I do agree it is b movie grade script at best. What a shame. The protagonist won't stop taking rubbish :(

Industry would sort itself overnight to the sound of a few companies imploding if gamers weren't so addicted to new shiny that they pay up front for a half baked product due to FOMO.

Money earlier is better than money later and you can keep teasing ongoing game development as content updates.

Yes, it's a bit of a Mish mash of ideas with some not working very well.

It's like they wanted to make a game of everything and it ended up a bit confused about what it wants to be.

It's the same reason the tone is so odd and the protagonist is so annoying. "Let's make a bleak dystopian survival horror game, but also a weird satire/comedy!" . It just doesn't land.

Personally, I think it would have been a better game if they went all in on it being a dark, eery, survival horror type thing, and got rid of the annoying platform bits and more banal/tedious puzzles. A more focused game is often a better game.

However I'm continuing to play it as I do enjoy most of the gameplay/exploring.

Gave up at the same part last night. Not sure if I will bother going back to try again.

Definitely Prey is better in my opinion. But then again I have only played a couple of hours of Atomic Heart so I may not be qualified to make that judgement :p

Worth playing for sure though. Only £1. I enjoyed the gameplay to be fair, it is good, just not great. I just would like RT and HDR which should hopefully come soon. Also I have put in quite a few hours into Hogwarts and enjoying that at the moment so rather finish that first.
