Audi owners in here!

Yessss....S1 looks like a beast. Really grown on me now I've seen a few. :)

Do you have any idea how it compares to a regular A1.

I had the A1 1.4 TFSI sport before the S1 so I've a very good idea ;)
- S1 is obviously much, much quicker. The A1 was nippy but not exactly fast. Fine for motorway driving as long as you're willing to work the gears and get on the boost.
- Audi drive select is really nice to have on the S1, in Eco mode its quiet(er) and comfortable and in dynamic mode is a different animal completely, loud(er) and aggressive.
- The A1 was really good for economy, especially for a petrol that wasnt CoD. I used to get 40mpg around town and 50mpg+ on a motorway stint. To compare, the S1 gets 20-25mpg around town and 30-40mpg on the motorway. Not terrible but its only done 3000 miles so might 'bed in' and improve but I won't hold my breath.
- The S1 feels like a bigger car, probably because of the way it holds itself with the 4WD and the revised suspension. It feels more refined.
- The A1 is a lot cheaper. Obviously. But the S1 is worth it IMO, I don't care what the Golf GTI fanboys say.
- Having the Quattro is fantastic - the A1 handles well for a FWD car but this is next level and isn't phased by a bit of water on the road.

Anything else you want to know just ask.

Phoned my local audi dealership up for a quote on having cruise control fit, he said someone would phone me back with a quote. It's been 4 days now and nothing, should I give them a ring back? Surely it can't take that long for them to work out the cost of parts + however many hours of work?

At a guess an Audi dealer would probably charge £150 to £250 for cruise control retrofit.

Would be cheaper to get an Audi independent specialist to do it.

Phoned Motability, they have no issue with me adding CC so long as it's done by the dealership that I ordered the car at. Phoned RSA (insurance) as advised by Motability, they told me they have no issue but it won't be covered should I crash.

Finally got a quote from the dealer and it was around £130 for parts, £190 for fitting. They said I need to take it in so they can do a check as I may need an optional control pack or something.

I'd say go for it if you think its something you will use quite often.

I've had a few hire cars recently with cruise control (don't have it on my car) and its good but I always find myself catching up to the person in front and then not being able to safely pull out to lane 2 for an overtake because someone is crawling past me in the middle lane, then have to brake causing cruise control to shut off.

Rinse and repeat about 20 times on a long journey. :( :o

I've issues with my right ankle and I'm having surgery at the end of the month to. Not sure why I didn't ask for our when I ordered the car.

EDIT: £387 all in, getting it put in tomorrow morning.
EDIT 2: All done, only ended up getting charged £336 so a nice bonus there. It is a great system too much more control than the one in the corsa. Keep flashing people though hitting the wrong stork.

How do you find the next gen haldex (4 is it?) in the S1? Does it feel more permanent/neutral handling stance or does it feel understeery initially when pushing on in corners?

I cant quite beleive theyre only 24k. With a simple remap you're talking Golf R power in a much more usable sized car. I think they look fantastic, also the Polo R is looking up to be quite interesting.
