Audi owners in here!

I believe they are the same connector, however there are certainly differences in AMI cable functionality, so it may, or may not work.

If it doesn't, just nip into a dealer and order one separately.

I guess that the AMI part replaces the 6CD changer as it looks to be of a similar size. I believe there is also just an external port that you can have connected and keep the 6 cd changer.

Edit, scratch that, it's a CAN-bus based one, not MOST-bus.

You can either replace the changer, or split the MOST ring with a Y-Splitter and have both. To have both, you either need the glovebox designed for two units, or cut your existing one to fit.

Hardest part is sourcing the AMI, seems AUDI don't sell them any more, I could only find one seller on ebay selling a couple of Gen2 AMI boxen, they are both now gone.

The hardest part of any retrofit is usually sourcing the bits unless they're available cheaply from the manufacturer. I'm looking at fitting adaptive cruise control to my car (not Audi, sorry :o ). The control module, steering wheel buttons, etc., aren't expensive. The radar, however... £1600 from Ford or £1-200 once every 6 blue moons from eBay :(

I have the 2 unit glove box already. One with the media unit with 2 SD cards and the media drive (Currently has the SATNAV disk) and one with the 6 CD changer. Guess Ill look into splitting the MOST ring and keeping the CD changer.

Cannot seem to find any that do the entire kits for the A6 for the 4F with a 2g high

Anyone know where I can get the software updates for the MMI from for cheap? Just had a look on the Audi site and couldn't see them (Found the latest sat nav disks for 215 euros though which they can swivel for)

I might have a software update disk lying around still.

What version is yours on?

I will have a check tonight and let you know

As I replaced the CD-changer rather than keeping both, I have a power and optical splitter cable going spare.

Edit:

And the seller I got the AMI from has listed some more: http://r.ebay.com/C7Gemi

Ta Ill take a look.

Edit: He doesn't have my car on there :(

Since last night I've decided I would like a nice B5 S4. Bit of retro and bit of forced induction. I figure if I can get a black avant as well it'll go as an older sibling to my B6.

I told the wife she car drive it, but really I'll slap some K04s on it and crank it to 450bhp and drive it myself.

Mmmmm

There is a compatability checker to ensure it works

Make - Audi
Model - A6
Year - 2009
Variant - 4F5, C6[2005-2011]
Type 2.0 TDI

Returns the error - This item does not fit Audi A6 2009 4F5, C6 [2005-2011] Estate 2.0 TDI.

Firstly the eBay checkers are based on what the seller fills in as compatible. Given that MMI 3G came in around then, it's possible that the seller assumed that all facelift 4F platform cars have 3G if they have HIGH nav.

Yours is definitely a 2G? If so, I can't see it not working

He also states:

Here is a basic guide to compatibility:

A4 (B8) >2008 with 2G MMI DVD Navigation
A5 with 2G MMI DVD Navigation
Q5 with 2G MMI DVD Navigation
A6 >2005 with Colour Screen Radio or Navigation (car may need software update to enable AMI)
A8 >2003 (car may need software update to enable AMI)
Q7 with Colour Screen Radio or Navigation (car may need software update to enable AMI)

I saw that but figured it was a large figure to drop with some uncertainty.

Yeah it is definitely 2g. 6 cd changer + MMI with DVD + 2 SD cards, Control panel does not have the joystick but on the centre knob but has colour Radio\Sat nav.

I'm pretty confident that it will work then, as far as I was aware, the only thing that controls what sub-revision of the AMI unit works or not is your MMI software version.

The Audi Retrofit site you posted a page or so back has the latest Sat nav and MMI software on there so will burn and update those tonight/Tomorrow.

Oh the firmware was never an issue really. It was just the retrofitting and the cost when I could never actually find a place that said my model was compatible, Didn't want to risk it.

Corner turning headlights caught me offguard in last night's fog.

I need a new Parcel Shelf String. Cant find the model i need online in parts stores etc. If I just go to a dealership will they have them in store, or will i need to send off for one?
[Edit: I ask as i'm quite a drive from the nearest dealership].

I'd be amazed if they keep items that aren't considered consumables, in stock.

They had to order my cargo net. I'd call the "nearest" dealer and get them to order one.
