I know this is the worst video in world taken with a potato but I don't think the diesel in my TT sounds bad at all. Certainly the quietest diesel I've driven.

All that really shows us is that you've driven hardly any diesels. It doesn't sound great at all, almost no diesel does.

It's probably just the automatic gain control for the camera's tiny little microphone adjusting for the increased road noise in order to keep it constant, which means everything else will sound quieter.

Your diesel doesn't sound great I'm afraid

and have you heard one from the outside? A diesel TT drove past me the other day and it sounded like a 1990s VW Transporter

The S3 Sportback is definitely on my (very) shortlist as a replacement for the S1.

I wouldn't buy one that wasn't the saloon. The saloon looks great, the hatchback looks like a little shopping car.

19s aren't options as of April, they are included (at least in the price of an S Tronic Saloon). Not fussed about BOSE, might possibly opt for the 10 speaker Audi upgrade.

The saloon looks amazing, but it would be less practical for my mountain biking gear.

The Audi Audio System (I think that's the name) in my S1 is actually quite decent, but if you're a bass head then only the Bose will fill that gap.

I would go with the Audi upgraded system. My old A1 black edition had that (obviously not exactly the same) but it is noticeably improved over the standard system. Bose maybe a tiny bit better but 95% of the time the upgraded system sounds the same to me, I'm not a audiophile though.

A rather large drop in mileage (year 1 saw 16k~, year 2 6k~, this year looks like it'll be similar to year 2). A rather large increase in salary, a little bit of boredom, and the fact that i'll be due a change (or paying it off) in the next 9 months anyway.

It's not a foregone conclusion, I might keep the A4 yet.
