Audi owners in here!

Todays courtesy car, an A1 1.4 TFSI S-line style edition. Drives pretty much the same as my first A1 sport but this one is DSG so seven gears, paddles etc.

Quite a lot of fun, first time I've driven a DSG transmission. Nice blip on the up/down shifts.

Which power output variant of the 1.4 is it?

The last time I got an A1 as a courtesy car it was the twin-charged 185PS, which was a right laugh.

I've got a lunch date with an S3.

Not entirely sure. I'm assuming the 122ps, but could be the 140ps COD. Enjoying the dsg as it makes a change from my manual but not overly keen on it at junctions/roundabouts seems to hesitate a bit.

Not amazing on fuel but I was giving it the beans all the way back to work...26 mpg. :D

Pics! :)

Has the new style dsg s-tronic stick too. Has a decent spec, with cruise control, parking sensors, sd nav, xenons etc just missing climate control.

I sort of get his point. It's weird how you get used to things, when I got my car I found it difficult to view the keyless thing as anything more than an unnecessary gimmick. Yet now I constantly find myself half way up the drive after driving the Mini with the key still in the ignition and the radio still on or sitting in the drivers sit furiously hitting the 'Start' button only to realise I've left the key in my pocket :D

Does your car have keyless entry as well as start?

They're both awesome but I could probably live without them, keyless entry at least - with that I could just press the unlock button in my pocket but keyless start is far more convenient.

As predicted :) Do you think you'll get one?

I didn't realise that the S3 Saloon comes with magnetic ride as standard. That along with the standard 19s could swing me away from the Sportback.

I probably will, but probably around 6 months time (waiting for completion of house purchase and be settled in). There's a 12-16 week wait at the moment anyway.

Yes, the Saloon seems a little better than the other variants (not interested in the convertible, if the normal A3 convertible is anything to go by, it's not very "sharp").

Salesman just chucked me the keys (he came along), but told me to drive it as I'd like. It goes really well, makes a superb noise, stops fantastically, and I'm definitely going to have to opt for S-Tronic.

As for the advanced key, I'm in no way a large build, but the fact that I was rubbing my leg on the keyring and dangling additional keys means that I'm sticking to my guns, Advanced key or nothing!

I never thought magnetic ride was that great. At least not on our UK roads. You'd be mental to drive around with it turned on all the time.

Only the smoothest of roads was it any good and even then I wouldn't bother having it on. It does make for a smoother ride when turned off though.

I thought the point of Magnetic Ride was that you didn't have to live with the permanently hard S-line suspension? Having said that, I don't know how the "auto" mode feels compared to "comfort". Perhaps it is a little bit hard.

I didn't think you could 'turn it off' mag ride is always on and in one of the 3 modes?

Bit like my adaptive dampers, you can't 'turn them off' you either run them in Comfort, Normal or Sport.

Don't mention 'advanced key' over at the audi-sport 8v forum or you're be considered a devil's servant. The advice in there is not to spec it as it makes the car much easier to steal and a target, if you argue the toss with them they go all 'girl's blouse' over it even though what they are stating isn't true....

Thats why its a choice.....

I was thinking of magnetic ride in the TT/R8 which is just a button, on or off. I was guessing the 'sport' mode in the new Audi's would feel the same?
