Audi owners in here!

Not really much need of any manual intervention if you've the electronic handbrake with hold assist as the brakes are automatically applied when the car stops, then the handbrake automatically applies if you turn off the engine, or remove the seat belt or open the drivers door. The handbrake will also automatically disengage when you pull away but only if the seat belt is on. The only time I ever use the handbrake manually is if I don't want to dazzle the person behind me at nightime as hold assist puts on the brake lights. I also have been driving using conventional handbrakes for 45 years but I've got used to mine, now when I get into my partner's fiesta I find it a pain to have to use a mechanical handbrake...

Nice Car, Did you Consider the RS3 ?

If I had about 10 grand more to spend, I would have. :p

Regarding the electronic handbrake, I am getting more used to it. I have the hold assist system as well, so I hardly need to ever think about it.

If this had been around a decade ago, learning hill starts would have been so much easier.

Always best learning in the worst case, I think that is why BSM use Corsas.

Can't you have it tuned to near RS3 levels? As the S4 was in that S4 v RS4 video on YT?

They appear to be... both the same? What made you 'upgrade'?

Lovely interior though. But then I guess so too was your last one :p

£0 deposit on a new one + a few quid on top of the old price per month :p

Surprisingly, the little changes make quite a large difference - I think the WiFi is a bit of a gimmick, but the seats are considerably better. Looks a lot better in silver imo as well

Tuning a brand new car that belongs to the lender anyway is madness, the risk far outweighs the reward. Just enjoy it how it is, its bit as if the S3 is underpowered.

I was just asking if it could be done? Not suggesting he should ;)

It doesn't belong to any lender, I bought it outright. The main barrier to not remapping it is the desire to not **** all over the warranty. And as Fox says, it's plenty powerful enough as it is.

The RS3 has a 2.5l 362 BHP engine, and I think it has 5 cylinders. It may be possible to get the S3's 2.0l 4 cylinder engine close to that kind of power, but of course the RS3 could probably be remapped to go even higher still.

Fords 1.0 Ecoboost has been tuned to 200HP with a custom made billet turbo I believe. :p

You can get a lot more than 440HP out of an S3 once you start uprating bits. :D

Remapping whilst under warranty is also a bit more risky these days as a result of all the "TD1" flag stuff which apparently allows dealers to easily check if the ECU has been messed with.

I don't pretend to understand the details and have seen comments on both sides of this argument, with some saying this flag is all but impossible to get around and others saying it's easy. All I know is it can't possibly be worth the risk.

The engine and turbo are different in the RS3, and no doubt the internal components too. You could 'map' the S3 to RS3 power and beyond, but how long it would last is anyone's guess.

Then there's also the uprated brakes/clutch etc in the RS3, you'd want all that too. As said, it's just not worth it. Want a faster car, buy one in the first place.
