Audi owners in here!

I got a new A3 Sportback S line last week. Went for the 1.4 TFSI (140PS) cylinder on demand. Options were (aside from the metallic paint) privacy glass and sat nav.

I did want the comfort pack (auto wipers, rear parking sensors, cruise control), but I was being quoted January for delivery from the factory and I couldn't wait that long really. I dropped on one in stock that was everything I wanted comfort pack aside, so went for it.

Apparently some aspects of the comfort pack can be retro-fitted anyway, but to be honest I've not missed them so far.

You can quite easily retrofit the parking sensors and the cruise control.

The Auto wipers and auto lights are more tricky as it involves a new rear view mirror, windscreen, stalk, light switch, and potentially a supplementary wiring loom.

Yeah - I think the only item I'll potentially miss is the rear sensors, but whether it's enough to get them fitted only time will tell.

The accessory catalogue isn't out for the new shape A3 yet, but the old A3 could have rear parking sensors fitted by the dealer for £375~ inc VAT.

You could likely do it far cheaper yourself (as I did with my A6, both front and rear, and visual aid) but I'd understand why you'd want it doing by Audi themselves.

Damn all this talking about TT's has made me want one. Very tempted to get rid of my 2.0T A3 S-Line and buy a TTS, only problem is I know the new model is due out next year, and suspect this will push the price of current ones down a bit when it's released?

I could always wait an extra year, save a bit more money and then buy a TTRS .... :D

Wonder what insurance companies would think of a TTRS for a 24 year old?

Bought a 2014 S5 on Friday for my wife, traded in her 2013 Boxster S as she needed something with a bit more room. What a spectacular car, I'm very impressed with it and was very good value IMO.

Phantom Black Pearl
S-Tronic
Black/Magma Red Nappa Leather
Carbon interior
MMI +
B&O and a few other things.

awesome. very similar spec to mine. wish mine had the HDD nav, but thats about it.

best colour too :D

and the front end looks sooo much better without a front plate on it.

They always look so much nicer without a front number plate. I envy the US for that. Lovely car - You must be minted!

Please stop ******** money and making us all miserable :( :p

Ideally, what options you cannot live without and how you find the car on a day-day basis...

Looking at either the 1.4 TFSI or the 2.0 TDI, both are fairly good economy wise..

I've got the Tech pack I think so beep beep reverse warning (couldn't live without that. cruise control which is nice whenever there isn't much traffic.

You need sat nav of course. Economy of the 2.0TDI is excelent. I drive every gear to the redline all the time, although i do change up when i get to the speed limit or am behind traffic. I get about 35mpg. I don't think it would be hard at all to average 45mpg.

Thankfully, Florida is one of the states that doesn't require a front plate, not all are so kind however.

Somebody just ban Iceman :(

So after all that I've posted on here in the last decade, it's an Audi that gets me banned?!

Turns out money can buy you happiness.

That's a story for another day but no, it definitely doesn't :p

I was pleasantly surprised by the supercharged V6, it's a very good engine with a lovely sound. If anything, it feels faster than the Boxster S did but that's largely down to the torque.

My wife wants an exhaust for it ASAP so it doesn't get drowned out by the Aston Martin or Mclaren, think I found a keeper!

Seriously?

For a start hitting the redline each time is fairly pointless in a 2 litre turbodiesel because the boost tails off before the redline. Secondly 35mpg average from an 2 litre ecodiesel hatch is horrendous, almost certainly caused by your bizarre and probably ineffective driving style.

Change gear once the power begins to tail off, not at the redline. You'll go faster and you'll probably use less fuel.

So true, 35mpg is woeful, even the 45mpg that "isn't hard at all" to achieve, would still be rubbish.

Absolutely, 45mpg is very easily attainable as is 50mpg, and even when driven hard and lots of town journeys, I still hit 40mpg.

Its the 1st diesel ive had that has give anything close to the book figures. I've even had 60mpg on a run upto Manchester.
