Audi owners in here!

No worries chap - just giving you an alternative view from an owner. I don't drive aggressively much of the time and the motorway miles will certainly have helped (when not sitting in traffic I'll trundle along at 80). However I have had a little box from DTUK installed for a bit more enjoyment. That was well over a year ago.

Other than the noise when cornering, the only other downside has been a slight dip in fuel economy.

I save the sticky rubber for the motorbike :)

What engine did you start with and what do you think about the performance increase, been thinking about something like this but was waiting for someones opinion on it first and did you see my edit about settings and tyre pressure.

It's a 245 PS S-Line Plus (3.0 TDI). I actually got the box to see if I could improve the MPG (I was doing up to a 1,000 miles/week at the time) which it did, marginally. It certainly gives the car a bit more oomph from stationary but I think you'd be better off sticking with popping the gear box in sport mode and saving the money.

I also have had a couple of DPF warnings that I've had to disconnect it for before heading off on the weekly commute to clear the issue.

It might be worthwhile talking to the chap at DTUK as he was purchasing a Q7 at the time I bought the tuning box from him. I'd guess that he has done some more development work on it now.

Not sure about the tyre pressure edit - I just pump mine up to the max recommended every month or so. Most of the time I leave the suspension setting on Comfort or Auto and only really use Dynamic when I have the kids in the back (bizarrely it makes them feel less car sick on long runs).

Of course you can buy what you want, nobody has said otherwise.

It would be somewhat stupid to buy what you don't want, after all.

I've got an A3 (13 plate) through work at the moment.

What's with the handbrake/arm rest position?

Awful design, I've spent most of the week banging the arm rest everytime I put the handbrake on :/

Shocking design from Audi's point of view.

Hi!

My current steed, which I have had for just under 3 years now:

Audi 2.0 Tdi DSG, full leather, light pack, etc.

Then I bought this as well, 2.0t FSI Stage 2+ around 260-280hp, S-Tronic.

But didn't really have time to do a proper photoshoot, as I wrote it off a week and a half after purchase, around December last year it suddenly flooded one night and as fate would have it, I was on the Torpoint - Trurulefoot road in Cornwall when it did. As a result I drove into a "puddle" in a town called Polbathic, which turned out to be 3 feet deep. Because it was S-Tronic and the gearbox failed first, I couldn't put it into reverse to try and get back out of the "river" that was now occupying the main road, so I had to abandon ship when the water started coming through my open window.
Luckily for me the insurers paid out, I am trying to find a well specced 8P3 170 S-Tronic now...

You get used to it. Not really a problem any way as the arm rest lifts in accordion with the handbrake. Most people have the arm rest in the higher setting anyway rather than flush with the console. It is better than not having an arm rest there, that really does feel wierd. They fixed it on the 8V with the electromagnetic handbrake.

The Audi S3 Saloon looks absolutely fantastic, the specifications are excellent, it looks great from the outside. Hadn't really realised quite how nice it is. I find it difficult to get interested in Audi these days, everything you see is the the same white, S-Line, Amplified Black Pack Sportback Sport leased 2 litre diesel with 140bhp, but the S3 really seems like something else.

Infact if I had to be picky only the interior lets it down.

Anyone tried one?

No, is there any real point to an A3 Saloon? If I was to buy an A3 Saloon I would just buy an A4. I think Audi are getting a bit silly, what will be next, an R8 Saloon?

Any real as to why you want to go for an 8P3 170? They hold a huge premium on a now old platform. Think you would be missing the power of the petrol personally!

The 8P arm rest is a real joke and a complete after thought! I like having one but I've adjusted and it's easy enough to use eventually!

Whoever is in charge of ordering company cars at your work dropped the ball on that one, big time. :o

It's a hire car.

It just seems awkward really, it's like someone designed it without sitting behind the wheel.
