Aurora Borealis red alert for the Uk tonight.

And when I got back to my tent...

Same here, possibly just a very slight tinge to the light pollution around me.
I'm up north, can see fields out my window and still nothing. Had the blinds up so we'd see if anything would happen from about 9-midnight and nothing. Checked again about 2-230.

Pfft. Maybe we're in a dead spot where there's no magnetic field.

Luckily I have seen them before, just never in the UK.

Got some good photos here in Norfolk. I was lucky and went to Iceland in February this year and saw the lights. Seeing the lights dancing in the sky with the naked eye is truly incredible.

The lights in Iceland are green. When I told them that in the UK we see them as pink, purple, blue and green they didn't believe me and thought I was seeing something else.

For anyone thinking of seeing the lights in Iceland just beware that it's not guaranteed because of cloud cover. When I saw them it was the first time they had been visible for a month!
The still get other colours in Iceland, it's not just green. Its just usually green, when we see it in the UK it has to be a particularly strong storm so we get more stuff hitting and we tend to see all the colours rather than just green when it does happen.

It was happening most intense at about midnight.

My best photos came from the ultra wide lens, which is less sensitive than the main, on night mode, which does a 10 second exposure.

It was so bright the main lens could see it vibrantly in live view.

It's quite suttle and initially it can be difficult to realise what you are looking at, you also need to make sure your eyes have adjusted I very much doubt you would really see it out a window unless you were sitting in the pitch dark. I was sat outside for a good 30-40mins around 10PM and wasn't convinced what I was seeing was anything other than light pollution, but as the intensity went up and my eyes adjusted you could very clearly see the waves of pink light.

Supposed to be on again tonight isn't it?

Check spaceweather.com there could be activity for another 48 hours but no one really knows how strong it will be. It could be stronger in that period but everything needs to align (It needs to hit when it's dark and clear!) it's still happening now and just as strong as last night.

I got some decent photos last night, but am a bit of a novice. Can anyone recommend some settings for an iPhone 15 Pro? I'm shooting in RAWMax, and around 15s shutter - Is one lens better than the other? Anything I should/can do with focus? :)
