Australian GP 2009 - Race 1/17 (NOT in HD BTW)

Old news but the BBC have just reported that Hamiltons podium finish is being investigated by the FIA in light of "new evidence"

Seems pointless watching the racing, as the results are often distorted and thrown around by the all powerful FIA.

Why did they issue the penalty to Trulli if there was evidence missing, surely they should investigate all the avenues first before rushing to a decision??

They should but they are incompetent. The stewards are just a bunch of muppets dragged off the street in each country to make impartial decisions. Most of the time the stewards have zero interest or knowledge about motor racing.

That's why Vettel's silly penalty was given. Because they don't understand that shunts in motor racing are inevitable.

Vettel will be attending another FIA hearing to discuss his penalty according to Autosport!

Surely this is proof enough that the stewards should be a team of FIA employees who follow the F1 from city to city, rather than a group of local misfits who know sweet FA about F1!

Hamilton/Trulli thing is ridiculous, so is the Vettel penalty. Why haven't they learned to only intervene when absolutely necessary after the chaos last year?

I can't really see Hamilton lying about the Trulli pass for a chance of getting 3rd instead of 4th in the first race of the season when he would have been elated just to not finish last, but who knows?

"Lewis Hamilton has been disqualified from the Australian Grand Prix and Jarno Trulli's post-race penalty rescinded, giving the Toyota driver third place again."

...and the circus of steward interference continues, Berny obviously unhappy about Hamilton's 6pt lead over the Ferrari's. :p

Is there any point watching F1 anymore? better to just read the news a week after the race is over to find out the final places after governing body manipulation.

It really is about time they sorted this. Last year at Spa proved just how broken the current setup is. All it does right now is create a situation where people wail and gnash their teeth and whitter about how the FIA's sole mission in life is to gift titles to Ferrari.

***edit***

Oh no.....Hamilton DQ'd. Morons :(

Blimey, what a decision. Here's a copy and paste of some background info:
“Trulli drove past Hamilton between the turns 4 and 5. The Toyota driver said that Hamilton so strongly deviated from the racing line that he thought Hamilton had a problem. Under these circumstances passing him would be permitted. Hamilton denied the allegation of intentionally slow driving. He changed line, because he was busy reading off the Safety Car instructions on the dashboard display.”

But after examining this, the stewards have apparently discovered that at that point in time and on the circuit, the dash display would have been cleared and there was nothing more on the display, which could have diverted Hamilton.

The story continues: “The central issue however to be gleaned is whether the team instructed Hamilton to drive intentionally slowly. Hamilton answered in the negative. However after the race the following story circulated: Hamilton is said to have told a reporter that the team told him over radio to let Trulli through again,”

Seems that McLaren may have instructed Trulli to go past, which they denied/lied about - what is everyone playing at?

Hmmm, this all seems a bit fishy. Hamilton should have kept his gob shut tbh. Let's hope this is the last of the BS so we can have racing drivers racing rather than racing drivers-come-lawyers-come-scapegoats.

If Hamilton hadn't said anything to the press about being told to let him past then he would have got away with it.

Although he shouldn't have lied to the stewards, if he had told the truth no doubt the race results would have stood. Sill game for 1 extra point.
