Australian Grand Prix 2010, Melbourne - Race 2/19

Don't know why everyone is ripping on Hamilton for "blaming his team", he didn't. He merely said: "The guys always do a fantastic job, the strategy was not right". Which is possibly right.

If the strategy is wrong I don't see why he shouldn't say that. And as for when he makes mistakes, he puts his hand up and apologies to the team, so it's hardly one sided.

As for Schumacher, as has been mentioned it's fairly obvious he got damage other than just the replaced front wing, and he is also still rusty.

If his car doesn't improve you will be saying this all season, he is just another driver in the field without a top car.

I think he should take a leaf out of his dad's book and remember who pay's him. When Hamilton came into F1 he was very gracious, as each race goes on he looks more and more like an un-greatful ring piece, probably not a good idea getting rid of his dad as manager

Honestly? You were probably the only person on the planet. Even Jenson thought he had made the wrong choice.

I know you dislike Hamilton, but to say he wasn't good enough today would be delusional. The best drive out of everyone, marred by a team choice. If I was a driver with the resource that is McLaren, I would trust their judgements too. In this case it was the wrong call. Sure the driver has the final say, but if he had ignored it and the tyres took him out of the race you would now be here saying... "Hamilton's arrogance shines through, ignoring the team decision"

No Alonso had the best race of the day.. Hamiltons was just more exciting. Alonso was dead last and came through to finish 4th.

As for strategy.. well Hamilton should either be easier on his tyres or have the balls to call it himself like Button does. Still a stonking drive though i'll admit.

Come off it. I don't want F1 drivers being yes men thanks! I want them with attitude problems and not scared to say it how it is. Christ the sport has enough trouble as it is captivating us at times.

I'm watching a replay now as i was still drunk when watching this morning.

Schumacher's race was compromised by button pushing Alonso into his wing and at the first tyre change his tyres weren't ready. They were still being taken out of the blankets when he was waiting.

Baring those points in mind, i'm sure he did that badly. Though he didn't excel either.

My thoughts exactly.

20 years ago, the sport was exciting, partly because we had "characters" - drivers who didn't care about what their bosses thought. In 2010, Hamilton is the closest thing we have to a "character". Every other driver has been trained to deal with the media like a politician.

Are you joking? Hamilton is the most manufactured of them all! He actually half cracked today in the interview. He was going fine until proded a bit more by the interviewer and came out with the 'find out who call me in' line.

:D

Are you suggesting that Ferrari will give Alonso preferential treatment and No.1 status?.

He's fast, rarely has off days, consistently great, good when the car is not perfect, unbeatable when the cars to his liking. He held all the aces when ferrari wanted him and I doubt he has parity in a contract. He rarely makes the same mistake twice. Good racer and fairly hard to pass.

I think the bloke is a grade A bent **** but as a race driver I'd give him whatever he wanted in a contract because he's the best driver in F1 by some margin.

Button should have backed out in the first corner, he wasnt going to gain anything from where he was, (half a car back on Alonso) and the resulting mess than ensued.

I was quite suprised he didnt recieve a drive through...

Storming drive by Alonso, if Ferrari had swapped Massa and Alonso round then I think Hamilton would have passed Massa and the result would have been different.

Why would Button get a drive through because Alonso didn't use his mirrors?

Alonso was infront of him.... its only Hamilton who uses the move or ill ram you while I try to pass tactics....

Button would have looked a lemon if he had taken his front wing off on Alonsos rear tire, it was an avoidable impact, just let off the gas and tuck in behind him rather than spoiling Alonso and Schumacher (innocent parties!) race.

i remember kova getting a drive through for doing something very similar last year. went up the inside of someone and spun them. so it could be seen either way. alonso was ahead by half a car so has track position. button may have been in a spot that alonso could not have seen, we all know how much use the mirrors on an F1 car are.

Could you please dig out the clip of this? I'd be VERY interested to see it.
Thanks uj.
