Australian Grand Prix 2014, Melbourne - Race 1/19

That caterham nose is just plain weird looking, is there some benefit from having a upper leading edge? I'm no areo engineer but I would have thought a single tip gradually expanding would be more aero friendly.

I'd love to see a fluid dynamics demonstration of the Caterham nose. I presume any loss in drag at the front is made up by some aerodynamic advantage further back. It does seem bazarre.

Put £20 on Mercedes to be the 'Winning Constructor' this weekend.

William Hill are doing £32.55 via TopCashBack.

Odds were 5/5 Yesterday, today they're 4/5.. Hardly worth putting the £20 on, but so long as it tracks and pays the cashback I should be ok :eek:

Not sure I like the livery on the McLaren.

I agree, it is almost F1 sponsored by the colours silver and black.

Merc = silver + green
Mclaren = silver + black
Sauber = silver
Ferrari = red + black
Force India = orange + green + black
Lotus = black + gold stripes
Caterham = green + black (to hide the penis)
Marrusia= red + white + black

Williams, RB, and TR are the only ones without black and silver.

These guys could come up with anything and they decide silver and black.

As if Silver or Black are uncommon or something (its not like its purple or something, and then 2/3 of the grid all deciding to use it would appear strange).

Also two colours that are probably the easiest to mix with multiple different sponsors while still looking smart

you cant highlight black and say its all the same. Almost every livery will have some black on it.

im actually a big fan of silver/black + one colour

No different to F1 2006

Mclaren: Red + Silver
Ferrari: Red + White
Toyota: Red + White
Super Aguri: Red + White
Honda: Red + White + Black
Midland: Red + Black
STR: Red + Blue
Sauber: Blue + White
Williams: Blue + White
RBR: Blue + Yellow
Renault: Blue + Yellow

Adding it to this thread too as the race is nearly here.

The Official F1 App is now available for android as well as ios.

App itself is free and contains... sod all. Premium subscription is significantly more reasonable than last year at £7.49 at the moment. Expect it to rise soon.

The app is a step on from last years app from the quick play I've had so far. Seems pretty good. Had a couple of little bugs, but is working well on a Note3 and a Asus Transformer TF300

Is it worth spending £7.49 for the premium version on Android?

I spent significantly more than that on last years app and found it massively useful. Possibly the most useful bit for me was showing the tyres in use and also how long they've been running them.

Will be running the TF300 during FP1 to see if it actually works as well as last year.

No idea when the price is going up either.

And the f1 channel gets switched on for the build up :)

Edit - oh god I want expecting it to be this back to basics.

I've got to say this going through the teams and drivers is raising a smile.

"the very neutral Swiss based side, that don't really make waves till the second half of the season. Then they'll make their run for mid table obscurity."

Oh? Is that the Pinkham's F1 thing?

Heels, skirt, white blouse and glasses... Almost exactly like some videos online that I've not watched... ;)

I mean, they knew exactly what they were doing dressing her like every horny schoolboy's dream teacher.
