Austrian Grand Prix 2014, Spielberg - Race 8/19

To be fair it's not just Red Bull. The Renault engine is down on performance and reliability for all the Renault teams.

And it's quite clear the RBR chassis is good and it's major failing at the moment is the engine.

If anything its quite refreshing to hear someone be openly critical of something rather than skirting around it with slanted half comments. And as much as you might dislike RBR, Horner has a point. The Renault engine isn't performing well enough.

So in summary, not sure what your getting at. This is one of the very few rants from team bosses that's actually justified.

It's plainly a good engine on the days that they can make the energy recovery systems hang together, they've been on the podium in four races this year including a double podium finish in Canada - a track that is pretty hard on engines.

Hamilton was beaten fair and square imo on this track
He should have got a better first lap in q3 so unless I am missing something rosberg started ahead on merit
Also in Canada is it not possible that Hamiltons driving style broke his car first? (that's a question as I don't fully know if it could be that)

The Renault engine is terrible
Will Renault just give up?

Will lotus be in it next year as isn't there a question over pdvsa after this year?

At least Vettel is making up for his luck from last few seasons!

Good drive by perez

Questionable calls by Williams. They certainly threw away the chance of second place imo

Mercs lead margin seems a bit down

Maldanado finished

I thought there were some missed penalties in that race

I have to say though, hats off to Force India, and especially Perez, I didn't think he'd be getting the upperhand on Nico like he is so far this season, well these last few races anyway. He's proving himself to be a very good driver.

Dunno why mclaren only have him one chance really

Perez seems to excel when on a differing tyre strategy and can look after his tyres really well, I think the majority of his good results at Sauber were when doing something similar. It doesn't always work out but when it does it's great.

Force India are in a nice position when they can split their strategies with the 2 drivers who can then put their differing skills to good use.

I'm not sure he's getting the upperhand over Hulkenberg, Perez seems to be rather hit and miss, but the past 2 races he has found himself in a great position.

Bad pit stop decisions for Williams.

Not really. As we all know, Williams isnt that great on its tyres, so being able to keep them out a little longer meant they were able to run on the other tyres for a shorter period of time. It might have been that if they had put them in earlier, those tyres could have gone off before the end of the race meaning that Alonso potentially grabbing 4th or even 3rd.

It does seem to be his niche, looking after the tyres on strategies that suit him. He plays the long game quite well.

Isn't that exactly what Horner is complaining about though? That it doesn't hang together enough. When its not failing its not bad.

On that ground he is perfectly justified in his comments, and not just moaning because they aren't winning.

I wonder if RBR are the team rumoured to have not paid Renault...?

OMG Hamilton was robbed by fixed pit stops and his car is clearly handicapped vs Rosberg's!!!!!!!

lol. the Lewis conspiracy theorists never stop.

was it a conspiracy that he didn't post a time in Q3?

do you realize that many in the pit crew are English and not Germans?

does Lewis always have slower pit stops than Nico? is this the case in every race? I am fairly sure that if you average the cumulative pit stops over the year they will be fairly similar

BS - Lewis actually missed his pit marks and when they dropped his car he seemed slow on reaction time
