Bad Experience

Wow a guy tells the story of how he found his daughter scared and choking, GD decides this is hilarious!

OP glad your daughter was indeed ok following your swift actions!

GD YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED.

All near death experiences are funny so long as no one actually dies :p

I'd be willing to bet after initially claiming down both the op and his daughter laughed over her nearly dying to a murderous ice cube :p

Well in for doing that. Whilst the ice cube may have melted in time to save her life it may not, so you got there first. Good effort and scary indeed!

I wonder what would have happened had she died and nobody found her until the ice cube had melted.... would they be able to figure out what she choked on?

Glad she's ok by the way ;)

I wondered that too. :) It reminded me of the old "Romeo and Juliet" riddle.

Also glad to hear she's ok. A close call there, OP.

For future reference it’s recommended that if you do abdominal thrusts, even successfully, the person receiving it should get to hospital and get checked out. It can have a habit of causing internal bleeding and damage to ribs.

Abdominal thrusts can cause serious injuries. Where this potentially life-saving treatment has been necessary, a health professional such as your GP or a doctor in A&E should always examine the person afterwards.

And get yourself on a first aid course too. :p

I woke up once not being able to breath.
I think I'd had a bit of a Hendrix moment.
It was after a very large night out and then more drinks when we got back home.
I ran to the kitchen, tried pouring a glass of water, thought it might help, lol, then after 20s of terror Panic i was able to gasp a breath... Then panted a bit. Bloody scared :p mouth tasted like puke and acid and bad life choices.

OP done well.

Quote" Our second place cube was Mckenzie's mouth. This took a total of 6 minutes and 53 seconds."

As I said you would be brain damaged or dead in 6 minutes. Also the is pulmonary edema aftereffect which can be deadly.

It’s gallows humour.

Ultimately nobody got hurt and all ended well.

There isn’t a person here who’dhave made a joke HAD it ended as it potentially could have.

Poor taste, I’d concede that.

And yes, I have a 22year old daughter.

Was joining thread to say exactly this.

Good effort OP, I get laughed at when I go super serious when I see someone choking but it’s because I’ve gone through it twice.

It’s scary as hell and I’m lucky both times I was mindful enough to sort it out myself as no one else was reaching out.

For me the worst part was not being able to even ask for help, so if anyone else starts choking I just make sure they know I’ve noticed by asking if they’re ok, looking for a glass of water or whatever.

Funny in hindsight but one time (about 14 years old) one of my mates was pushing everyone back to “give me room to breathe”! :D

Happened to me in a plane. An ice cube. Never been able to swallow tablets since. Really weird. Because swallow. Food waaaay bigger
