Bahrain GP 2009 - Race 4/17

Now that Hamilton trumpet has been sufficiently blown, can he keep it on the track this weekend? Turns 9-10 seem to be quite slippy, and the last corner also seems to give people trouble. All it takes is one slight detour and all of hamiltons hard work could be undone, straight line advantage or not.

On fuel corrected Hamilton is 3rd fastest of the top 7 in Q3 so you can't discount him from a podium.

My gut feeling is that that lap was a "Hamilton special" and that he wont be able to consistently grind out that sort of lap time.

Although the BrawnGP cars havent done anything amazing this weekend, I still feel their race pace is going to be very very fast. I honestly cant see how any car can beat a BrawnGP car, unless it rains. Obviously if Button gets stuck behind a slower car (Trulli, for example) and loses 1s/lap to the leader, then this will hurt his chances for the win, but if he doesnt get bogged down in traffic, I can see him with a very good chance of a win.

Vettel/RedBull's performance is a lot better than I would've expected, so obviously, he and his team will fancy their chances for a win tomorrow. If it rains, then obviously Vettel has to be favourite, as I feel Hamilton isnt yet ready to compete against for wins yet, in the McLaren while the rest of the people around him on the grid, aren't in Vettel's class when it comes to wet-weather driving.

I think what you saw Hamilton doing last week was overdriving his car as it is very slow. He is trying to go faster than the car is capable of. Also, like he stated, his tyres were shot after about 5 laps into the stint.

Last year, I remember Alonso was doing the same thing, where he was spinning off, as he was trying to go faster than his car was capable of going. As the season progressed and the car got faster, the wins came. I guess Hamilton will be hoping for the same.

Would Sir like his hat rare or well done? :p

Sunama offered to eat a hat if the RB5 was a race winning car due to it's time of release.

...based on genuine pace. :p

Of course, I would argue that last weeks win occurred in the wet and that in the dry those BrawnGP cars would've whipped the RedBull's behind.

I think tomorrow is Vettel's best chance of a dry track race win, so far in his career, so he would do well to grab his chance.

I remember early last year, when Heikki was so slow, I suggested that McLaren should get rid of him in favour of Vettel or Sutil (to drive as No.2 to Hamilton for 2009). Imagine if that had happened and Vettel were in a McLaren...I can't help but feel that Hamilton would've been pulling out all the stops off-track to ensure he got preferrential treatment.

Almost definately a 'hamilton special'. But, assuming no mistakes tomorrow, I think he has the pace/KERS to beat at least the two Toyota's, and most likely Barrichello as well to get on the Podium.

Vettel, again assuming no errors, has the fuel load to beat the brawns by being ahead before each pitstop and staying out a lap or two longer. I think he'll get the win tomorrow.

Vettel 8-1 to lead after first lap.
Hamilton 33-1 to lead after first lap.

Ill have a fiver on each of those I think (and cover bet with Trulli at 1-5 :D)
