Vettel 8-1 to lead after first lap.
Hamilton 33-1 to lead after first lap.

Ill have a fiver on each of those I think (and cover bet with Trulli at 1-5 :D)

Backing a 33/1 shot on the hope that 4 cars plough into each other is a waste of money imo. No way will Hamilton get past all of them by the end of lap 1. I'll be surprised if he led the race at any point. I did think Vettel at 8s is a half decent punt though.

LOL. Yes. I've never seen a driver who is so good at qualifying and who is so disproportionately slow during the race.

Someone in this thread pointed out that qualifying is just about 1 lap, while the race is about many laps and that might be Trulli's weakness, ie. not being able to concentrate for an entire race to produce fast pace. However, that theory doesnt work, because Trulli is disproportionately slower, right from the first lap. It isnt like he is fast in the first 2-3 laps and then gradually slows down (with fatigue) - Trulli tends to be slow right from the word go and for the life of me I dont understand why this is the case.

Its almost as if all the other cars go straight into Parc Ferme after qualifying, while Trulli's car is has a detour to his garage to get filled to the brim with fuel, before returning to Parc Ferme.

The mind boggles.
 
Maybe Trulli just eats an absolutely massive dinner after quali and doesn't relieve himself before the race making his car very heavy?

Really enjoying the F1 season so far, very impressed with Red Bull and Brawn trumping over the usual Ferrari.

I wonder if somebody could answer a question I have:

If I understand correctly, cars in Q3 have to start Q3 with their race fuel loads and finish with the fuel they will start the race on.
What happens to cars which only make Q1 and Q2 as they only have to put 2 flying lap fuel loads in, can they choose/refill to full their fuel volumes for the race?

One of the advantages of qualifying in 11th place. You get to start in the front half of the pack, but get to choose whatever fuel load you wish to start with.

The people in the top 10 however, don't have the luxury of playing around with fuel loads after qualifying.
 
As Buemi showed in China though you can still fill up to the brim knowing you arent gonna get any better than P10 in Q3 to maximise your strategy...

That's interesting about being just out of Q3 and having the fuel luxury. It's a great sport where so many factors affect each team's tactics.

Was under the impression that they could finish the race with any amount of fuel in, as long as the car weighed right at the end.

I reckon Vettal could win it again, top 3 teams at the moment are getting closer each race.
Best start to a F1 season yet. allways good to see a handfull of teams capable of winning from just racing.

I think you have misread what the other guy put. He was talking about the fuel starting the race with, not finishing the race. The fuel has nothing to do it the end of race weight. It is a dry weight meaning fuel removed.
 
Quite possibly, just reading it as the car has to have the same amount of fuel in it at the end of the race, as it does at the beginning of the race (Q3 cars only).

Bit too early for me on a sunday morning.
