Bahrain GP 2009 - Race 4/17

good race, i am moving to Vancouver on friday so if you could make the next gp thread a little later say 6:30pm i can get my usual HD question in ;)

Driver of the day by far has to be Lewis Hamilton, he dragged that car to 4th - HK showed what it is really worth!

Hamilton gained one place from qually to race finish. Does that honestly count as dragging a car up by its bootstraps?

Of all the TilkeDromes, this one isn't the best. The butchered Hockenheim is worse, but this Bahrain track really isn't great. Still, the race wasn't all that bad in the end. Jenson now has a win this year with no safety cars or random monsoons to stack the deck, and he never once looked like losing it once the first stops were cycled through.

Few thoughts:

1) Fisichella - retard. If Schumacher had done to a driver what he did to Massa you'd all be baying for blood. And then to be so caught up that he didn't see the leader come tanking up to him....don't think he's got too many more seasons left in this sport.
2) Piquet didn't crash
3) Alonso was pretty anonymous. Only finishing two places ahead of your spectacularly rubbish team-mate is not what you should be doing as a double world champion.
4) The BMWs were awful as well. They need to see some serious improvement.
5) Ferrari's "Worst Start Of Season Evarrr!!!1111oneone" scenario has been averted, thank God. But those updates in Spain better be good.
6) I guess I'll be in a minority here, but I didn't think Hamilton's race overall was all that impressive. His start, on the other hand, was blindingly good. But it all just seemed to go a bit flat from there. Another one who'll be hoping for a better car come the start of the European season.
7) Got to do a spot of hat-eating here. I may have intimated earlier in this thread that Bourdais should be sacked immediately. He then goes and finishes well ahead of his team-mate today. Sorry about that one, Seb!
8) Toyota may well find that their best chance this year of a race win has just gone begging. I hope that isn't the case, as the more teams fighting for wins the better. But I really thought they might have done better today. What the hell happened to Glock?

Regards Ferrari - everyone was saying pre-race that they just needed to score to prevent this becoming their worst start to a season ever, yet surely it still is?

Prior to this race, their worst start was 1981 when they failed to score in the first four races and then, in the fifth, came 5th and 7th. Today's 6th and 14th is patently worse than that and thus this is now their worst start ever.

(My heart bleeds :D )

They got two points for that 5th and 7th back in '81, and Kimi got three points today. Thus, worst start avoided.

Like I say - enjoy it while it lasts. Ferrari always come back to the fore, sometimes when you least expect it.
