Bahrain GP 2009 - Race 4/17

They got two points for that 5th and 7th back in '81, and Kimi got three points today. Thus, worst start avoided.

Like I say - enjoy it while it lasts. Ferrari always come back to the fore, sometimes when you least expect it.

They do come back when they can test the hell out of the cars, the new rules reduces amount of testing time.
i think this is going to become a write off for Ferrari

Regards Ferrari - everyone was saying pre-race that they just needed to score to prevent this becoming their worst start to a season ever, yet surely it still is?

Prior to this race, their worst start was 1981 when they failed to score in the first four races and then, in the fifth, came 5th and 7th. Today's 6th and 14th is patently worse than that and thus this is now their worst start ever.

(My heart bleeds :D )

Just mentioned this to a mate.

Only had points to 6th back then iirc. So they finished better in 81, but got more points this time.

Driver of the day by far has to be Lewis Hamilton, he dragged that car to 4th - HK showed what it is really worth!

Theres no guarentee that any new parts are on both cars. Plus they fuelled Heiki heavy for the quallies while giving Hamilton a realistic shot. Basically Heiki was used as a fall guy to cover any bases in case of an irregular race.

Heiki had a compromised race to cover all eventualities.

Hamilton had a good Kers start and that was about it really. A solid performance but certainly not a great drive. For the fuel he had and speed in qualifying he drove smoothly.

Both Vettel and Trulli were poor today. Rubens was poor in comparison to his team mate again.

Alonso did a good move on Trulli possible because of Kers and then nothing more came of his race. I expected more after Nickthe Norse proclaimed Renault to be the 3rd fastest team this weekend :p

No one really stood out for me this race, my DOTD would be button purely because he did the unexpected. On grid speed he wasn't favourite to win and the car clearly had heat issues. A good smooth faultless drive from start to flag.

Fueled him heavy? He didn't make it out of qualy 2 he would have had 1/2 laps of fuel on board like anyone else surely.

.

they do have the same parts (heiki actually turned down the new wing as he didnt like it) and they had the same fuel while qualifying.

Depends whether you go on points or position. Given that the points system has changed I tend to think position is far more important and, in that respect, this year is worse.

Would anyone claim that winning a race in the "old" points system would be classed as an inferior result to a second place with the current system? Hardly, yet the latter result would garner more points. The only fair basis for comparison is on position.

Why Bernie keeps banging on about government support to keep the British F1 GP alive I don't know cos there is ZERO chance of it ever happening.

They never coughed up when they did have some money now they don't have a pot to **** in they definately are not going to cough up!!

I think Trulli seemed to give up trying for second after the traffic incident with Kubica, he never seemed to get (too) close to Vettel after that.

I'll admit I didn't want Button to win today but he really did deserve it. Looks like I may have some hat eating to do at the end of the season if Barrichello doesn't get it right...

KERS, seriously, BAN THIS FILTH!!!! IT'S RUBBISH! *rant*

Cos they will be used as a scapegoat when the BGP no longer exists - everyone is distancing themselves away from the BGP and what is happening with it...

I still dont get why Silverstone couldnt have got plans and development sorted as per BE requested - its his job to get the best venues so I can completely understand where hes coming from - unfortuantely though the money required isnt forthcoming and in this current climate no miracle will happen...

How on earth are the government supposed to justify putting large quantities of tax-payers' cash into such a rich sport?

Simply attending a GP these days is a total rip-off, without our tax money being funnelled into it aswell.

I was just saying to my dad how I thought that Button would be a more popular world champion than Hamilton but my dad disagree's saying that since Hamilton was the first one to bring the championship back to the UK then he would still have more fans.
Glad to be proven wrong with my pre race predictions, right cars but wrong order and wrong toyota!

I don't see the point in discussing who, out of Button & Hamilton, would be the "more popular champion" until such time as Button actually wins it.

In my view, whilst Brawn may well still be ahead, it's not by much from Red Bull and the latter still have their diffuser to introduce. I think Brawn should enjoy their success while they can as I personally think they're going to seriously struggle later in the season as I can't see them having the resources to sustain the same level of development as some other teams.

Unfortunately Hamiltons racing career has been slurred now, so he like M. Schumacher will always have a black mark against what he acheives.

No doubt he will be more successful than Button will be (if Button gets the WDC) but I agree its more debatable if he will be more popular - personally for me he wont be - hes made F1 more exciting for several reasons and brought it back to the public eye so kudos for that...

Is EJ going to moan about KERS at every GP? Has the designer of it stolen his wife or something :p

Interesting behinds the scenes bit of Brawns team debrief starting on the forum, don't think we've ever seen that before!

LOL. You're really comparing the current "lying" scandal with the stunts Schumacher sometimes pulled? Give me a break!

Besides, peoples' memory is selective. Senna was a seriously dirty driver at times yet the mere suggestion of this to many will cause total outrage.
