Bahrain Grand Prix 2012, Sakhir - Race 4/20

It hilarious, the religious anti-hamilton crew on autosport are suggesting lewis should be in trouble for overtaking while not on the track. Lol

Generally an entertaining race, which was rather unexpected for Bahrain. The DRS zone is a little too long but being the first time used here, that should be sorted for next year. They get some good slipstreaming from the back straight already.

Really wanted Kimi to win, even if I hate the team he drivers for. Both of them did well. Vettel winning keeps the championship close, just a shame that the Mclarens and Mercs didn't score highly at all, so he has pulled ahead clear.

Rosberg driving like a berk. Not sure why they couldn't just give him a drive through and get it over with.

David Croft made a lot of mistakes during the race, which was annoying and not like him really?

Rule 30.13

In both cases I would say Hamilton and Alonso were the ones driving most erratically or dangerously.

They should be told to calm down, as this kind of thing can cause accidents, and that should be it.

Deffering a decision until after the race is annoying though.

Rosberg seemed way too aggressive, he didn't leave enough room for either Hamilton or alonso IMO.

**** result regarding Vettel, can't believe he's leading the championship from nowhere.

As much as I like Sky, some of the mistakes in commentary from Croft in particular today were painful.

1) Sebastian Vettel - Red Bull - 53
2) Lewis Hamilton - McLaren - 49
3) Mark Webber - Red Bull - 48
4) Jenson Button - McLaren - 43
5) Fernando Alonso - Ferrari - 43

It's taken him 4 races, but he has finally hit the front.
My pre-season prediction was Hamilton/Button/Vettel, to fill the top 3 places (in no particular order), but I have to say, now that RBR have a car which can do well in the race, Vettel has to be favourite for this year's title.

For me, I think think McLaren still have the best car overall (though this is marginal), but RBR have Vettel on their team.

If McLaren want to win this year's title, they need to give Hamilton/Button a car which is significantly faster than RBR (at present they are not doing this). If they don't do this, Vettel beat their 2 drivers to the title.

So, the next race is in 3 weeks. The big question has to be: are Ferrari going to bring a new car to Barcelona? They have to completely revise their current car, as it just doesn't stand a hope in hell of winning on a dry track. If they manage to bring a new car in 3 weeks and have it run at the front, then I feel Alonso may yet win this year's title.

I remember, in 2010, most people said, anybody can win in the best car. And he limped across the line in 1st place. I was one of them.

In 2011, people said, anybody can win in the best car, even though he broke all sorts of records along the way. This was the season where I understood that Vettel was the real deal and probably the 2nd best driver in F1.

In 2012, he no longer has the best car and is leading the title race. So how are people going to belittle his performance this year? I look forward to reading the excuses.

I don't think Rosberg did a lot wrong with alonso, alonso didn't have his nose anywhere near. Not happy with his move on Hamilton though. Slapped wrist and under watch, nothing more I imagine.

You also have rule 20.4

Manoeuvres liable to hinder other drivers, such as deliberate crowding of a car beyond the edge of the track or any other abnormal change of direction, are not permitted.

I agree maybe they weren't level enough to maybe guarantee it as crowding, but I don't think anyone can disagree that Rosberg did make very abnormal changes of direction, seeing as the only other person to make that move all race was Massa on Hamilton, but his wasn't as bad.

Well put.

Not to belittle his performance (which was excellent) but it seems RBR have fixed what ever issue they had with their car and until today he was nowhere near leading the title race.

If McLaren hadn't screwed up all three pit stops Hamilton would have been competing for far more points and while he wouldn't have won the race, would still be leading the drivers championship.

What of course he had the best car, today. The tyre situation makes it so fluid it's hard to predict race to race. It doesnt just have to be the fastest it has to be great on tyres, today it was. Kimi was faster but his tyres didn't hold up.

It's far too early to predict if they have or haven't got the best or fastest car. Perhaps looking at his team mate he has taken four races to get the best out of the car, so I don't see how that makes his performance this year that stunning.

Hell alonso won a race and led the title in a car far worse. Vettel did a great job today, one race in four and it took the fastest car to do it. He leads the title not because of great driving or consistency this year but because alonsos car is pap and mclaren keep shooting themselves in the foot.

No-one is trying to belittle him. You do realise we're only 4 races in and have had 4 different people leading the WDC?

4 races into a season is a little premature to start making such comments do you not think? I bet you've been sat biting your lip waiting to post something like that for the last three races :p

Especially given he'd probably not be at the front if McLaren hadn't been doing their best to ruin their own race today :p

I also love the massively condescending way you phrase this as if it's 100% concrete fact and it's only due to your superior insight that you've come to understand it and everyone who disagrees with you is just somehow inferior to you at being able to see these things.
