Bahrain Grand Prix 2013, Sakhir - Race 4/19

I missed that! did he get back to the pits ok? to many things going wrong at Merc.. sort it out brawn...

Just about made it back to the pitlane. As it was the rear left that went he couldn't easily get into the pit box, so stopped just off the main pit lane and the team jacked the car up, dumped it on a couple of trolleys and pushed the car back.

Once the car was back in the garage, a mech had the wheel off immediately and Pirelli chap had that wheel covered and away in a flash. It was too late by then. Been broadcast all over the world by that point. :D

Looking at it, the wheel when first and that then took out the suspension so it wasn't directly a Merc issue, although rear tyre wear may have contributed, but the rear right looked ok.

So more of an actual tyre failiure than anything else?

Has that occured with the Pirellis yet?

So. Vettel sets a good time on hards. Hopefully they destroy their tyres otherwise they look good.

Anyone else set their best time on hard?

Hamilton's gearbox getting changed, 5 place grid penalty.

Bugger. I suppose if they are off the pace anyway it's not the end of the world. Might mean he gets to run a different strategy to the top drivers that *could* benefit him, although I admit I'm clutching at straws.

Hamilton's rear left failed after less than 9 full laps.
A stint of 4 and a stint of 5. Was also the medium tyre at that point.

[edit]

Ooof. That close up from Sky there, both wishbones destroyed.
