Does anyone else think it's a bit harsh to punish a gearbox change that's the result of damage from another component failing?
A FIA mandated, standardised, third-party component that all teams have to use...
What's your point?
Just saying that if it was one of Merc's own components that failed, then yes, it's fair.
A tyre failing and taking out suspension and possibly driveshaft, and that all the teams have to run that component, then it's not that fair.
Seen a few tweets saying the same thing. Including from DC, which is unsurprising, as a Red Bull employee, his job is to whine about the tyres whenever possible and this plays right into his hands.
Ah ok, I couldn't work it out from your first post.
I agree with everything you just said. Is it too early to determine the cause of the tyre failure?
If it was due to Hamilton wearing it down to the canvas then it's his own fault and the punishment should stand, but if it's down to a manufacturing fault then I think Pirelli should get a five-place grid drop.
Wow Rosberg fastest!
