Bahrain Grand Prix 2014, Sakhir - Race 3/19

Barring a break down I think Lewis will win because he is good on fuel and can push at the end.

Vimto being shown up for what he is a mid field driver.

Yep, midfirld drivers generally win 4 championships back to back.

It's good vettel isn't in the best car. We get to see despite 4 years of success that in the same sort of machinery Alonso, Button and Hamilton have had for those 4 years he's not able to pull that extra out. It will be interesting to see how often he does this year.

I have always thought the driver difference so over rated these last 10 years.

The guys in the factory should get more money than these robots.

Alonso hasnt won a championship since leaving Renault, which included a year at McLaren in a car that should have. Button and Hamilton failed to make quick Mclarens win. Kimi was beaten by Massa after winning the WDC at Ferrari. And Schumacher did bugger all in the Mercedes.

Yet nobody is calling them midfield drivers?

That is what is going to be most interesting for me this season. Vettel, lets see if Riccardo is going to show him up this season.

If he does, Vettel will never be known as a true champ.

AND HAAAAAAAAAA at Bernie! Made me wee a little!

Just had a look at times
I didn't miss much!

Merc walk in the park
Riccardo doing good job over Vettel.
Lotus dire again :-\
Good by perez

Would love to see DR trump Vettel over all on merit
May need a dummy factory for how many Vettel will be spitting

It's certainly very hard to decide who the best driver is, there's probably about 8 or 9 guys on the grid who would win the title if they were in the best car.

Button won the title when he had by far the best car, not really come close to champion since due to Red Bulls dominance.

The majority of people class Alonso as the best on the grid, he hasn't won the world title for 8 years due to inferior machinery.

When Hamilton won in 08 you kind of expected that to be the first of many, 6 years later and because he hasn't had the best machinery (or team mess ups!) he's still only got one world title.

Now it's Vettel, he's won 4 world titles with the dominant machinery but this year looks like he's going to struggle.

Fact is I reckon if you stuck any of them in the Merc this season they'd probably rack up a ton of wins so deciding who is the best driver is a never ending argument with no right answer not that it will stop people talking about it every race ;)

Reading stuff like this makes me wonder if people actually believe the dross they write.

What did Lewis just turn up from 57 to 59? Massive numbers on the dash for it.

I haven't seen anyone else answer yet. I think it's brake bias - it's the only thing I can think of where that number seems applicable (of course, I could be completely wrong!). Now that they have the brake-by-wire system, I don't know whether or not it still has to be a knob/lever to adjust.

Webber is/was a mechanical grip guy and Vettel is Aero

Webber must be kicking himself this year !

I think webber is just a bit poo to be honest. Not sure how you can be a mechanical grip guy but not an aero guy. That car was on rails in corners last year with enough downforce to floor it around corners.

He also sucked badly off the line, one of the only real wheel spin moments of races in the past 3-4 years, he was just about the worst on the grid at starts, then slower than so many people in by far the fastest car.

I think he'd be significantly worse with less grip this year and a lot more wheel spin to deal with. If he was one of the few guys to struggle with it last year I sincerely doubt he'd be having a good year had he stayed. He was done at Red bull anyway, which could have actually meant he got a seat at a potentially better car this year, Williams/FI if he was interested.

Frankly I think most teams had better options, when you're a bit poo in a truly great car I wouldn't want to put them in a worse car.

What he means is Vettel managed to get his head round the EBD better than Webber did. Webber was always a 'mechanical' guy if you get my drift. The idea of pressing the pedal harder going round a corner was difficult for him to grasp. Webber thrived on mechanical grip, grip he could feel through the car and the seat of his pants. 'Old school' perhaps. Vettel seemed to adapt better to the EBD and what was required to get the best from it.
