Bahrain Grand Prix 2014, Sakhir - Race 3/19

i also want the fuel limit lifted!!

Why? Nobody is really being hindered by it. If teams do fuel save its only for the first part of the race. Mercedes even managed to go balls to the wall for 10 laps at the end and not come close to the fuel limit.

For the most part, the 100kg limit seems to be easily achievable for all teams.

A truly stunning race with cracking racing action, very unexpected.

The GF now really want stop go to a race this year if possible, if not, then definitely next year. A nice ferry to Europe and Spa/Monza/Hungaroring might be beconing. It'll be interesting to hear how the new engines compare to the glorious V8s that I loved soo much in China and Singapore.

On the engine note, I much preferred the sound in Bahrain with all the weird whistles, whines and even tyre squeal sounding great.

Loldonado. What a tool, now pointing the finger at Gutierrez..

I was expecting a follow-the-leader snorefest but my word was I wrong :o
Great race, nice to see Bernie and Monte with egg on their face :D

Thinks he means the flow rate rather than the limit (which I agree appears to be easily achievable by most - although I guess this will change with different tracks)

That was one of the fuel heavy tracks.

Removing the fuel flow, is absolutely idiotic. You should ignore what Luca says as he's clueless.

and he still couldn't pass Lewis.

Shows how great Lewis is and how much he fought to stay at P1. :p
I bet Nico will be analysing the data today wondering how on Earth Lewis stayed in front. :o

Some of it was down to Hamilton's engineer as he told Lewis what settings Nico was on
and told him to use the over take button the same time as Nico did.
Nico was unlucky that the tires worked out the same as Hamilton's in the last part of the race.

But Lewis had all the answers can't wait for the china race :D

Lewis haters gonna hate, but lets face it, He's the better driver, probably the best current driver in F1 when he's in the zone and the car is working with him. If it had been the other way around, Lewis would have got past probably just by making similar moves to the defensive moves he had to make.

One other major highlight, I've always said Vettel can't handle pressure, and it shows, it's pretty much no better than some of the drivers I see on the A34 :) and without the car to assist him, he's a sitting duck.

Other thing to note, given that the last 10 laps or so showed no care for fuel restrictions, those Mercs are literally unmatchable at full chat, and that is the beauty of Nikki Lauder :)

I would love for Hamilton to win the season, but with that I don't want him to run away with it. I want to see Ric, Hulk, Bottas and Rosberg up there contending with him. Unfortunately Kimi or Alonso doesn't look set to do anything this season :(

I don't want to see Perez on that podium again though. Little git.

Great race... only saw the 1 hour highlights show on sky, but it was cracking. Kept waking my baby up who was asleep on me at the time due to all the joy of watching some great racing.

Oh, and Pastaface.... OMFG! I know these forums would be awash with... "shock horror, he has done it again" :D

Didnt have "better" tyres at all (when Nico was on the softs in the middle stint radio message was clear stating there was none of the expected advantage), and Im sure commentary said that on his last stint Nico was using a set of already used tyres.

Looking at the race in general - while team mates did overtake on occasion, it was a lot more rare than it might have been (after all if you are over taking someone in the same car , it has the same good and bad points as your car which therefore makes it more difficult to get ahead)

Two drivers so similarly talented , the modern F1 relies on the leader making a mistake (like locking up) before the other one can overtake - or having a mechanical issue of some kind

Nico was on the harder tyre during the middle of the race and soft tyres at the end of the race compared to the harder tyre that lewis was on. Nice was on the better tyre at the end of the race, however the delta was not as big in favour of the soft tyre as had been seen previously in the weekend. Closer to 0.2s per lap instead of 0.6s.

Both lewis and Nico had fresh tyres at every stop due to not having to burn through sets in qualifying, and both only 2 stopping the race, meaning 1 fresh set of softs and 1 fresh set of hards put on both. The only time both drivers would have been using used tyres was at the start of the race when both had to start on the set they used to set the fastest lap in Q2.

Jenson reckons the Mclaren is second only to Mercedes in pace terms now, and that he could have possibly reeled Hulk and Perez in at the end but nevermind, we'll have to wait and see what happens in China.

Every single driver will have a DNF this year, just happens that Bahrain seemed to be Mclaren's turn.

Don't hold back. Say what you really mean :).

The fuel flow and fuel capacity limit are linked. At the moment teams are doing 200 miles at about 12k rpm, using 100kg of fuel at 100kg/h. To increase fuel flow they would have to increase the capacity limit too, or they would just introduce peaks and troughs into the fuel useage.
