Baldur's Gate 3

Oh to be wasting Clerics on healing spells

On weapons mentioned by @keyser van someone extra reach will be a weapon like a Glaive, Halberd or Pike which will let you attack from 10ft away instead of 5ft like all other melee weapons. All of those options are Martial Weapons which not everyone is proficient with so will effect your ability to hit at times.

Shortbow & Longbow have the same range which is annoying but Hand Crossbow does have a shorter range.

As for characters and stories? Shadowheart is great but Lae'zel is the standout for me - hell of a ride for her and she goes through some really important changes!

Also don't save scum - that's no fun! Gotta roll with the punches

Your tips have come in handy.

Any tips how I should respec Shadowheart?

Getting close to level 5 now. Decimated the remaining goblins at the goblin camp. That was fun. Must have been a good dozen of them. My first approach failed miserably. Found a different way where I had high ground and made good use of sleath attacks as you suggested and it worked a charm :)

Stick with Cleric (because OP af!) and change your domain to Light. Stats wise you'd probably want: STR 8, DEX 14, CON 15, INT 8, WIS 15, CHA 10 (I think that's right) and stick +2 to WIS, +1 to CON. Levelling up stick an Ability Score Increase into WIS + CON (1 point each) which should even them out at 18 for each.

Spells - pick your favourite because you get some great ones from the domain (Burning Hands, Scorching Ray, Fireball!) but I like Faerie Fire & Guiding Bolt (1st), Spiritual Weapon (2nd) and once you hit 5th level and get level 3 spells (confusing I know!) Spirit Guardians will be your best friend

I wouldn't bother with a weapon unless you're desperate but if you must pick something like a shortsword.

You can cheese most things with stealth TBF.
Yes, yes you can. Oops all Rogues is my favourite playthrough so far

Definitely starting to get into this. I know when I look forward to playing again that I am enjoying a game. Only took 20 hours like

I can only put in 10-15 hours a week though. So it will take a few months to finish by the sounds of it. Not complaining mind you. I enjoy long games as long as they are good.

BG3 is great but maybe not my usual genre (last one was maybe Neverwinter Nights!), and now I wanna start again on balanced without save scamming :p coz I've got spells and stuff out the ying yang on easy.

What this game needs is a thick manual to flick through.

What does 'send to camp' do, except make it harder to manage items? what items should/shouldn't I send to camp?

Pretty much what it says on the tin! :p Basically a quick way to get heavy gear out of your inventory so you can keep moving until you find a use for it or a merchant with enough money to buy it from you. As for what to send? Depends on your playstyle I guess but quick suggestions:
  • Explosive barrels - heavy and will quickly encumber you. Very useful for cheesing big bosses but not worth carrying
  • Food items - so much of it around it once again clogs up carry weight with no functional benefit.
  • Crafting Ingredients - not too much weight and you could craft things in the field (press H!) but best done at camp with a character specifically built for it
The rest of the stuff either flip at vendors (rope, random tools, gems etc) or equip on your characters as worn doesn't count towards carry weight. Obviously

Don't forget to spread the load of carried items across all characters (including those not in your party!) and swap them in and out as needed for trading.

Weapons and armor - there are a few choice pieces in vendors but quest rewards or random loot will suffice too. Anything that expands critical hit range or does extra damage/inflicts a condition is worth picking up. Early game I'd suggest the Doom Hammer from Grat the Trader in the Goblin camp as it stops people you hit from healing

I could probably talk about this game all day for it's options, postive things and it's flaws so I'll shut up now

Not far off level 5 now. Managed to kill that huge spider last night which was fun. Trying to work out how to use that forge, I think I am going to have to go online as it is not obvious

Chances are you haven't even found it yet: p

Unless there is a different one, the one I found it gives you a slot to put something in. Then says the combination is wrong. But there is only a single slot? The other slot you cannot change.

Edit : OK, I had a look. The forge online I see called the Adamantine Forge is definitely not where I am. One I see is a simple one in a village

Seems I have to cross the river in the underdark.

I actually got that far a couple of days ago and was getting ready to call it a night and thought let's see what happens when you get on that boat. Got boarded by another ship. Was fun pushing the guy in to the water. Lol. But ultimately could not win the battle as I had not rested my party.

When I resumed I decided not to go that way as I felt like I was going off coarse a little. The whole thing started of with me wanting to clear the goblin camp and find Helsin. I ended up in the underdark and did a bunch of quests down their instead

Oh and that Mushroom Picker. I killed him by mistake. All those green things exploded. Lol. I tried to have a chat with the dead body but it said the body is too badly damaged for the spell to work which I thought was awesome. Could not be asked to reload a save so left him dead :p

Can confirm I have killed every single goblin at the goblin camp. No Helsin to be found. I had to look online and some say he might have escaped and can be found at the druid camp or something like that. Never did see a bear.

I want to explore and do more quests on the surface before I go back to the underdark. You do get a warning before act 1 finishes right? I don't want to get locked out from being able to go to the underdark and the forge. Can always go back to a old save but that is annoying have an hour or so of gameplay wasted.
