Baldur's Gate 3

I’m looking to get this to play with my wife co-op split screen in the living room but unsure if my system would be powerful enough. I have a 3070, 5600x, 32gb ram it’s a 4K tv but don’t mind playing at lower resolution on medium settings. Would it run ok? Thanks
appreciate it isnt the same but we are about 240hrs in, split screen, on ps5 which isnt as powerful as your PC... works really well

actually on 2nd playthrough,
oh my god what a difference playing the durge is...like a new game... we have tried really hard to be complete gits in this playthrough, I have seen a side of my wife that I hadn't realised was there... really leaning into the durge lifestyle... just into act2, I've woken up, sliced Wyll into pieces and then had to kill Karlach too as I sat over Wyll's corpse laughing maniacally whilst it bled out.. Halsin has left the group as he wasn't a fan of me randomly murdering people... nevertheless I now have the ability to turn into a Slayer... that was a bit of a shock.. still, being 16ft tall and having 4 arms will probably help... Jaheira also dead, everyone at moonrise dead... Isabelle stolen.. all in all its going well...

Goes without saying but playing as dirge is arguably more interesting not being a murder hobo.
I think on the playthrough I did I basically tried to resist it which was good, fun and killing too many people just cut short too much of the storyline and side quests

I do see that but as we have done a playthrough trying to be good and doing every side mission we could find i dont think its too bad.. i am a little worried how much of act2 we have missed though...

This is the thing, you can be bad and not have to kill everyone. In fact, arguably a lot of the stuff is more impactful that way and a lot of the fates are worse than death for some of the characters.

Anyone know if I can play this game with my ancient pc?
Id say its beyond end of life.. And more life support!
Didn't realise it was couch coop.

I have a old gaming laptop and old desktop.
Only need 1080p as that's my TV resolution.

Laptop (ideally would play on this)
-i7 4860HQ
-nvidia 980M GTX
-32gb ram

Desktop (need to find a way to pipe pic to TV downstairs)
-nvidia 1070
Would need to find rest of the specs. It's very old too

These are the official recommended specs from Larian's website : https://larian.com/support/faqs/system-requirements_47

So, technically you could play it just. But not sure if the experience would be great.

If you’re not intending to build a new PC/get a new laptop I’d suggest picking up a PS5 off eBay, compared to the price of PC components it’s far cheaper and would be a far more enjoyable experience.

Thought about a console.
Yeah not planning to upgrade the pc. It would need new everything. And it's just not used enough to warrant that.

Just looking into steam link first to my desktop upstairs (I have an old one in garage)

OK, so the 2060 S.. Seems to be close ish to my 1070ti. So maybe I could use it upstairs.

Not sure if it's worth getting a 1080 or something for upstairs pc or not. I guess the 1070 ti I have sits between minimum and recommended

Edit
Gees. Is the 1080 ti that much better than the 2060 S?
On the bench mark website it's loads better??

I was looking around YouTube and Reddit, looks like if you don’t mind knocking settings down to low then BG3 is playable on the 980m although with a wonky FPS, 25-40 FPS.

For the SteamLink, guess that depends on your home network, with my PC wired in and the TV wireless I never found it that great and stopped using it.

Will get it all set up, try it out and if it doesn't work I can get a refund I guess.

Does sound like the main grunt is required late game. So will need to be absolutely fine as I believe can only play an hour or 2 for a refund.

Steam link would be powerline adapter

Looking like my laptop is probably not going to be good to use for this.

You could also subscribe to GeForce now to play it.

Baldurs Gate 3 - Second run.
Decided to do my second playthrough this evening after seeing the final major patch is out now. I have gone with a wood elf monk and will be going for the drunken master sub class. I will actually try and dabble in multi classing with one of my companions as i never tried it before. I also stuck with the same companions throughout my first play through so will make sure i pick different ones this time. I have also decided to try Tactitian difficulty instead of balanced, which should add a bit more complexity to the combat, hopefully it wont be too unbearable and just means i have to think about my tactics and builds a bit more.
Anyone else starting another playthrough with the new patch?

Played a bit more today. Managed to get astarian who I will take through my second play through as I didn't touch him on my first go. I also decided to try multi classing with him for the first time. I'm only level 2 but I picked warlock hex class for him. This will be for just one level then I plan to go to level 3 and pick rogue swashbuckler and use the remaining levels for that. This should hopefully make a good frontline attacker.
