Baldur's Gate 3

New subclasses look great. Question or those that have multiple play through's of BG3; how much of the game/side quests do you tend to do on your play throughs? Do you stick to main quest only and skip side quests, or do you still explore every square inch of the map (again) in case there's stuff you missed on previous runs?
I tried to do everything, and really regret it. Means I'll need at least a couple of years before I do another playthrough.

Well for me, I basically did everything each time but with a different party for different dialogue etc

I completed my run through BG3 last year.
Re-installed yesterday, having noticed that mods are now supported and that it includes a mod manager.

As such, have setup the mods that I fancy trying:
- expansion of character levels to 20
- expansion of a larger party size. I fancy a 6 man team. Got 5 at the moment.
- updated UI
To cater for the larger party size, I've upped the difficulty level of the bad guys. So far, it's proving more interesting, partly because I can try out using a different balance of classes as a result of the larger party size. Have added a Monk this time. With a 4 person party, they're a bit of a liability, but this might help their usability.

does the level expansion work on the ps5?

They nerfed my boy the rogue though by removing off turn sneak attacks and destroying Commanders Strike from the Battlemaster Fighter :(

Damn, I used off turn sneak attacks to cheese my way through a few things.
Although sometimes the enemy seemed to regain their HP once the battle started

Ah you're talking about attack outside of a combat, perhaps before a cutscene is supposed to play out? Yeah that's annoying when it happens :(

As for Sneak Attack it's Larians interpretation of the rules and it's one of the things they get wrong that really irks me. Should be able to sneak attack on the rogues turn and then again on another characters turn but apparently it was deemed to powerful. It's a common mistake in the tabletop community already so not surprised it found it's way into BG3.

Possibly more exploitable in video game format? I dunno.

that would be useful thanks, the doris was keen to crack on but got a bit annoyed when we maxed out at 12 :)

According to the description it's supposedly available for Mac and consoles. So in theory, you should be good.
The one I'm currently trialling starts with the name of Unlocklevelcurve

I played around with the larger party mod but got tired of it eventually - managing six characters is a pain.

I've settled on a few mods that are mostly quality of life mods that make the game "better" and one I consider essential if you've completed the game at least once:

  • Bag Of Holding
  • Better Containers
  • Better Context Menu
  • Better Healing Potions
  • Better Hotbar 2
  • Better Inventory UI
  • Addon for Better Inventory UI
  • Better Target Info
  • Better Tooltips
  • Better Topbar
  • Better Trade Menu
  • Broken Items Fixed
  • Clear Map
  • Do Not Attack The Ground
  • Extra Encounters and Minibosses - this mod is absolutely brilliant. If you've played through and completed the game once, you have to get this mod as it adds new encounters - wondering monsters AND themed encounters that will make loads of sense once you hit them!
  • Fast Digging
  • ImpUI
  • Inspirations Uncapped
  • Longstrider QoL - cast longstrider once, it affects all party members and is permanent.
  • Movefaster
  • No Press any key menu
  • Origin Dialog Tags
  • Traders Drop All Loot
  • UnlockLevelCurve Level 13-20
  • Weightless Consumables
  • Weightless Gold

Monk is OP in BG3
I used a monk for my first full play though.

I remember beating Orrin super fast and not even being aware of the mechanics of that boss fight. It was just all over so quickly.

It was a fun run but super easy. I found the game weirdly hard in EA and then it clicked and it became too easy when I came to play the full game.

I’m looking to get this to play with my wife co-op split screen in the living room but unsure if my system would be powerful enough. I have a 3070, 5600x, 32gb ram it’s a 4K tv but don’t mind playing at lower resolution on medium settings. Would it run ok? Thanks
