Yep. Send it back Rambo. Unless of course you like the glossy surface of the panel.

Well, that's the thing. The panel doesn't have a glossy finish, it's matte (the only thing that's glossy is the plastic case around the screen). But anyway, I'm sending it back. It has all the characteristics of a TN panel and the model number matches those which are of TN specification.

I received my monitor on the 19th of February. Am I going to have a hard time getting them to take this monitor back? Am I going to have to send it back to them? Also, am I going to have to re-pay for postage, considering how OcUK sent me the wrong product (therefore it's a fault on their behalf and I should not have to do a thing apart from watch them come, pick it up, and replace it free of charge).

Sorry for the questions, but I've never had to deal with stuff like this before. Thanks for your time, it's much appreciated. :)

Cheers,
- Tim.

Hang on. Im positive that you reported problems with previous screens very early on in this thread. What date did you buy your first screen?

I'm sure you also said that you 3rd screen had turned out fine. Did it develop backlight bleed as the days rolled on?

Ordered my first on 20/02/08..

I was checking for dead pixels when I turned the screen black I could see it bleeding...

When I play a game and move my head from top to bottom etc the lighting will change at the top or bottom depending on where my head is same from side to side, should a VA panel do this?

Not sure if these pictures are any good.
Sounds like a TN, is the screen glossy?

Can anyone tell from this code if it's TN or VA. Cheers.

Ok another edit just tryed watching a trailer from my bed looked no different from sitting in front of it. If anything looked better from the bed.

Anyone else with a PVA want to see if they have any bleeding?

Thats an excelant tool mate. Thanks. Thats one for the memory key.

Rambo: I shouldn't think you'll have any problems with OcUK taking the monitor back as long as it's complete with packaging and in good/new nick etc. They have just arranged a pick up for my faulty Acer monitor (Lives 'n learns don't ya) free of charge!!

Give them a call. They have a good reputation for a reason mate

Just gone for this, was going to go for a B Grade one, but for the extra, I went for a proper one for £179.

Any idea how much my old monitors will go for, (both dell, widescreens)
Dell E228WFP (22”) (9months old) -
Dell 2007WFP (20”) (15 months old) - much better monitor IMO, if possible I will keep this one

Hey guys - just to let you know, I've submitted my RMA report and hopefully they'll get back to me by tomorrow (and fingers crossed I can have a new one by the end of this week!).

Thanks for all the help and advice (particularly sunama - cheers mate! ;)).
I'll let you all know how I get on!

Regards,
- Tim.

I think I've got the same sort of screen. It's matte but does'nt seem to have the correct viewing angles. i.e. I have to tilt to watch from my bed which is a bit lower than the chair in front of the monitor.

I've not checked the serial number yet (if you can actually tell from that)

Am I likely to have a TN panel?

Mine has a shiny, glossy front but I think must be a *VA panel as the colour does not change as I move round towards 180 degrees. Actually, I was and still am very impressed with it. My serial number is 998802038. I can't get the Digimate website to accept the registration though, but I expect most people have the same problem.

I would be interested to hear if the panels are still coming in well. My wife, who has a couple of awful 17" panels has now got my 24" to try though I think I will just have to get another. What I am not sure about is the choice of the OCUK Value monitor versus a 2nds one as somne people have bought. Any advice here would be very welcome.

I cant be 100% sure, but I think the viewing angles are pretty good on that, hence, I think it is a PVA panel, not TN.

See Rambos pictures - it clearly shows the colours totally changing at acute angles.

Ye im starting to think it's not a TN panel as i was doing a few more angels, if I go to my bed which is lower than where I sit and is further away (with film on) the picture is perfect.

I have also moved the monitor from where it was originally and now i can see it all perfectly. Think it was to do with the very dodgy angel i was sitting at.

All angles seem fine now so ignore all my previous posts and thanks for the help.

can anyone recommend me a good graphics card which can run this monitor at 1900 x 1200 resolution without juddering and stuff?
I will NOT be gaming though!

Needs to be AGP and ideally passively cooled or quiet running.......

Mine came this morning, signed for at 10:45am, on the phone for RMA at 11:10am!!

I realised that this was obviously a panel that had been previously returned, the panel was not in a bag, no protecting cover for the screen, the top left of the bezel had popped out! the screen and stand were covered in dirty fingerprints as well and the cable bags were already open..... :(

I set it up, switched it on, dead pixels in the centre...... :(

I am very surprised that OcUK sent it out in this condition and at first was not best pleased with them, after "playing with it" for 10 minutes, I decided that this monitor was not for me.

I got onto the phone to OcUK and they arranged an RMA immediately with a full refund (bar postage as I had another item with it), it was collected today at 2:30pm...... no quibble/hassle, so thank you for the GREAT customer service.

Why did you decide the monitor wasn't for you? Apart from being sent a crap one and everything else that was wrong.....

imho, the colours did not look right to me, even after playing with the gamma/brightness etc. Game movement did not feel "right" - cant explain that one really, but when I went onto a America's army server, it felt sluggish and blurry...... And looking at the monitor itself, it just 'smacks' of cheap, so I guess you get what you pay for and that is no complaint at OcUK at all, for the money it is good "value", but it is just that, a "value" monitor.

I will be saving my pennies and getting a better quality monitor at somepoint, though not sure which at this point in time.
