BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

Hi

You can read the model number of the panel directly in the service/hidden menu of the MB24W:
just press buttons "menu" and "+" simultaneously (if you can't, keep pressing "menu" then press "+").

M240UW01 (V0/V3) = MVA panel
M240UW04 = TN panel
Mine says M240UW01 V0

but im prerry sure when i looked on the label at the back of the monitor it had v3 lol too much effort to check again :p

at least its deffo a MVA so im happy

Just got mine (after a 50 mile round trip to Citylink depot). Plugged in DVI cable and power cable - power on at wall - nothing. Tried another power cable - nothing (no light on front of monitor etc, pressing buttons does nothing). Is it dead or have I missed something?? gonna be furious if this is dead

Dead...

Just to be sure, try plugging it in a different wall socket ;)

You should get a "no signal" message on the screen and still have a blue light no matter if its connected to your pc or not.

FFS tried 3 sockets and 3 cables, this is totally ridiculous  ... spent 2 hours in the car to go and pick it up due to roadworks and now this!

My onscreen menu shows "lm240wu3".

Searched all over round the back, inside the fins, everywhere (had the monitor on the floor with a torch shining on it) and couldnt find a label anywhere !

Im assuming from past posts that lm240wu3 is a TN panel, so will be raising a webnote to get the monitor exchanged. To be fair, Im actually quite happy with the screen, but feel a bit cheated if I dont get what I paid for ...

Forget about labels, etc. How does the screen perform? If the viewing angles are good, dont worry about the label.

Are you sure its a TN?

There seems to be a £50 difference between the VA panels and the TN panels ? Does anyone know if OCUk will refund the difference, rather than go through the hassle of exchanging ?

To be honest, for my usage it seems fine. But if you view vertically upwards at the screen, the colours quickly invert (I'm talking 45 degrees off centre here) - that and the glossy screen indicated to me it may be TN. The model number just seems to confirm it.

After reading several pages of this immese thread I have come to the conclusion that I will not be buying one of these monitors. Good look to those that have bought and are happy.

88 pages, is this some kind of record for a monitor thread?

I asked if they would do this, but they said no. So back it has gone and I am waiting for my PVA.

Why cant they send one out and pick up at the same time. Seems unfair to be penalised by having to wait for an exchange, when it isn't our fault ...

But good on OcUK for at admitting there are panels out there which arent as described and exchanging without hassle (I say *hoping* there wont be any hassle ... ;))

Exactly what I think! I suggested in my RMA enquiry that they send out the replacement with the van that is coming to collect it. Kills two birds in one stone, plus as the fault is on their behalf, we should not have to suffer.

If they have not done this, I shall be pretty annoyed, as it means I will be without my monitor for the rest of Friday, Saturday and Sunday (hopefully it'll arrive on Monday). But that's 3 days of work which I cannot complete (my job depends heavily on image/video editing [hence the Mac screenshots I posted earlier on]) because of someone else's fault - and I'm not being reimbursed for it.

Anyway, I'll just have to wait and find out...
