BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

Surely calling them and getting them to confirm the correct one will be sent isn't that hard??

Stock is on site isn't it??

lol, no it's not hard but making sure that they send out the correct one seems to be going by the last few pages of posts on the thread.

Thanks for your input. Anyone else got any ideas?

If you open the nvidia control panel, there should be a tab where you can "budge" the screen image up, down, left and right. Try "budging" it a bit to the right.

Edit: Also there is an option which says "Use my display's built in scaling". Try enabling that.

Wrong. Some people phoned up last week, before RMAing their TN panels. Customer services were making promises that TN panels would no longer be sent out, coming out with complicated excuses involving item numbers. When these people received their monitors, they turned out to be TN.

Unless they physically open up the monitor boxes and thoroughly check the monitor, they cant be sure and offering a 100% guarantee would be wrong. They are not checking the monitors as it would not be cost-effective for them to do this.

Ah yeah I see what you mean now by the last sentence, I was going to choose this over a HP W2207H 22" wide screen but I may go back to my first choice I think... Thanks ;)

I sent clockers a webnote asking for confirmation that I'd definately receive a VA panel before I ordered.

Here's the response I got:

Thank you for your webnote.

We have split our stock into two products and almost all of the contaminated stock is accounted for. You will receive a VA screen and if in the unlikely event you receive the incorrect item then we can just arrange a return. Regards, Thomas Lamb

Hope the above is true but knowing my luck I'll still recieve one of the unaccounted for TN panels:/

I figured it was a risk worth taking though, the worst that can happen is that I'll have to return it for a refund.

BTW the monitor is actually for my cousin who thankfully doesn't read these forums, becouse if I do receive a problem free VA panel I'll be keeping it for myself and ordering him another. :D

OK say I order one how do I tell what type panel it is please?

I'm a bit of a n00b with this sorta stuf

Nope, shiny = TN. Btw we're talking about the screen itself not the surrounds. This shows how obvious the difference is for anyone who is still not sure. See the left PVA screen doesn't produce a clear reflection? -

Not my pictures btw, hope the people who took them don't mind. They are both from this thread.

Check....! ;)

Have you got one?

Yes, I got one on 24 Feb at the steal of £179 + VAT :). Unfortunately, like many I received the TN panel and OCUK have agreed to replace it with a PVA without fuss. :)

I now need to get round to actually returning the thing..... Bring on the w/e!

Despite the negativity of the TN panel I am nonetheless quite impressed with its quality, am looking forward to receiving the PVA :D

I went from a Dell 1907FP and the difference is like night and day, can't believe I didn't upgrade earlier.

colours do invert while looking "up" (and darker), side to side it goes a redish colour, down it goes brighter/bleeched out, based on my brief tn experience ;)

i think it doesnt work with the ps3, and if your playing bluray/hddvd then u might need anydvd.

i havent come across any hdcp strippers on ebay apart from a hdfury

Ah that's easy to spot then, many thanks ;)

shiny = bad!!
Just to throw a spanner in the works, I'm sure people have reported that their TN based screen/s weren't as shiny as the one in the pic above suggests.

To be honest though you'll probably be able to tell if it's a TN just by turning the monitor on and doing a few angle tests. Basically if it's a TN the vertical viewing angles will be carp, ie the colours will change as your point of view moves up and down the screen, which personally I could live with on a 19", maybe even a 20", but on a 24" I reckon it'll be unbarable.

Also, kikifr posted some handy info (linked below) on how to find the panels model number via the service menu.

would you recommend this as a pva coming from a 226bw (non S panel but it still looks stunning, rich colours etc no backlight errors)

in 2 minds atm :)
