BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

Surely if Overclockers can guarantee that a Q6600 chip can over clock to at least 3Ghz, then they must be able to guarantee a monitor is what its supposed to be (ie a VA monitor). They must have tested these chips in a system which must be a lot more hassle. (I know you pay more) Surely taking a monitor out of box and rigging it up to the power to find out what it is, isn’t as complicated as testing a chip. I think it’s about time overclockers did this to sort this problem out. I’m sure if you put a half page piece of A4 in box saying why the box has been opened the customers would understand. It would save ******* off a few people not just once, but multiple times.

They are doing the same thing for the guaranteed overclocks as the screen. If it doesn't hit 3GHz (very unlikely) they will swap it around for another. They do not test them prior to shipping.

My second replacement was sent today. Here's hoping for a VA.

It seems though the likelihood of getting the incorrect monitor is higher than getting a chip that won’t over clock to the specified speed. I understand they are shipping a lot of monitors also, but they must be losing a fortune in postage and lost custom due to ******* people off that might not come back. Checking the monitors maybe their only choice. Or taking off the guarantee of a VA panel, which would be a shame.

I think you must be right - a fortune in postage and time. I have 2 to be collected next week so they really are losing out.

I think they would not want to remove the *VA from the description

though as they get more money from the better screen. Look in the sale part of the website and you see the TN panels selling for less. I think I heard somewhere that they cone only return a whole pallet and clearly DGM are 'cheating' by putting a load of TN sceens in. Checking a whole pallet when it came in would take a while but they could then be sure what is being sold.

Well, a wait till next week to get mine swapped out again. Will they be right next time...

Ordered mine last night and it was delivered this morning - great panel and clearly VA.

It's LTM240M2-L01 = Samsung S-PVA panel

When you view the monitor vertically upwards, do the colours remain virtually the same? ( should be like this: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10552114&postcount=170 )

The panel you say you have is the same one in this monitor: http://www.theflashcentre.com/eizo-colouredge-ce240w-24-monitor-i568.html

That monitor retails for just under £1000.

Has anyone played around with the service menu at all? i notice there is a noise reduction setting on the second page, seemed to help a little with watching freeview on mac.

I think im just gonna have to ask for a refund as i cba with messing around with the PVA lottery. dont get me wrong, the TN panel is good for the price, but its not what i ordered. i'd rather make sure i get a PVA panel and maybe go for one with HDCP as well this time.

The first option in the service menu says PGAE, its a typo, it means page,

Press the menu button to select it then press + to change to page 2

I've just switched back to my NEC 20wgx2 and i now realise how good a screen it really is. I only paid £250 for it on ebay over 2 years ago brand new. never realised its panel was an IPS.

Watching a film now and theres no motion blur at all like on my Toshiba 32wlt68Tv or the ocuk 24" TN panel i just received. it really is nice and easy on the eyes

Im thinking now maybe i have to wait a while till 24" screens catch up.

Yes the colours remain the same from pretty much all angles to 180, including vertically. Attached below are links to some pics I've taken tonight - sorry my photography skills are a bit limited!

Yep it seems to be the same Samsung S-PVA panel as the £1,000+ Eizo, well according to the panel look-up website anyway. I've got to say I'm very happy with it - had a 19" Acer TN panel monitor before and can see a huge difference in screen quality and viewing angles.

If anyone would like any more pics please let me know and I'll take more and upload them.
