BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

Looks like back light problems is the next thing here. My first monitor today is fine but the second is quite a pale grey when ti should be black due to back light leakage. Another RMA tomorrow I'm afraid.

If it's not one thing then another. Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you wont get a TN as a replacement (!)

Well, I finally went ahead and ordered my new system - including this monitor.

I've decided that I'll probably get the VA panel if I ordered about now (submitted yesterday at 17:55 - dispatched today). The order is due to arrive on Saturday, so I'll post and let you all know what I get! :)

Can you press Menu and + together to see what the model number is ?

yeah sure...

model number is SA-LTM240M2-L01

...just need to know if everyone elses screen is kinda "grainy", not grainy, but sorta "texturized, for example the background on my desktop has a smooth image but when I look up close it looks sorta pastel-like - not completely 1 colour as you'd expect...

Don't really know how to explain it,

"grubby" comes to mind?

What you lot think, I can't see how anyone can be "impressed" with this panel. It couldn't really look any worse, if it is so good...

Other than being a PVA panel, what exactly is good about this image?

Check out this link http://axofiber.no-ip.org/inside/monitor.lcd.panels.en.htm

According to this that panel is a 2407WFP 1920x1200 500 1000:1 6 gtg / 16 typ 178/178 Samsung 24.0 S-PVA LTM240M2 Good panel, you may have other issues though?

Ok I got a VA panel! At last. Seems fins, minimal backlight bleed, havnt tested for ghosting yet. I do however have a cluster of about 4 dead pixels in the top right corner.

Does anyone know the best way to revive dead pixels?

Hmmmm....

My "dead pixels" look more like a small circular blemish on the panel, it changes colour depending on the background. On a white back its a red\magenta colour...

seems to cover about the surface area of 4 pixels but ina circle, not a square\cube as you'd expect...

Does anyone know the deal, what I should do...

On the subject of backlight bleed, I don't think its that, as if I physically move my head to the left of the screen it looks "normal" its only when looking left when my head is aligned with the middle of the monitor (normal viewing) that it appears pale...

Strange thing is that the image to the right, doesn't exhibit this paleness except at a much sharper angle.

I can definately see the top left corner looks "faded" no matter where I sit\look from, bit detracting...

Thanx tweakinfreak for looking up my model number, lol I kinda feel "happy" that it is based on the 2407 Dell model....but I'm just not sure where to go from here, is this just how it is?

I'm not sure, images definately have more depth than with the TN panel, but thats most likely because of the contrast not being as high at default. The TN model was very "fruity" and although image detail suffered, it was an overall more pleasing image, especially with the glossyness of the screen.

Hmmmm....decisions\thoughts\confusion :o

Would really appreciate some settings that you peeps are using for your screens that I could try :)

My Dell 2007WFP has something like that, the screen always looks like it needs a clean, but a clean doesn't improve it. On my screen it's light being scattered by the anti-reflective coating that causes it. It doesn't really bother me though, not now I'm used to it, so maybe what you have on your screen is much worse.

Well this is interesting. According to:

http://axofiber.no-ip.org/inside/monitor.lcd.panels.en.htm

Both the BenQ FP241VW and FP241WZ use the M240UW01 V2 panel. Whereas the BenQ FP241W uses the M240UW01 V0.

According to OcUKs prices, the former 2 seem to be more expensive than the latter. So (perhaps) it's a better screen after all .......... (not that any of this matters, until I've actually seen the image and am happy with it - that's what's most important).

Well, just received my replacement. Model # M240UW01 V2. Much better viewing angles than the TN (Obviously :p) Am chuffed it has the same panel as either of the BenQ's going at twice the price!

Excellent Service from OCUK, as ever!

I got one and it's VA.

There is a single red pixel stuck at the bottom. I can only see it on dark backgrounds but it's like a bit of snot hanging from the nose of Venus, aesthetically (spoils it).

Anyway, very good as a monitor. Pretty good for ordinary DVDs. Non HD TV looks rubbish (blocky). HD clips and trailers look nice. Blacks not that great (especially when there are margins at the side or top) but it is a panel that's usually in £400 to £500 monitors (M240UW01 V0), so I'm pleased overall.

It's a bargain for less than £220 delivered.

I've been undecided but think I'll take a punt now the TN/VA lottery seems to have been resolved. Wish me luck on a good panel :)
