BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

The menu says V0 but the sticker says V3. Is there any difference between the 2? Sticker says AU still so I assume they are more or less the same. :)

Well, according to this (http://www.msc.de/download/pcn/auo/eol_auo_panel.pdf), that panel has a 16ms response time (whereas on the product page it says 6ms). On a google search though, I did see the words "P-MVA" next to the V3 model.

However, I'm not sure those sources are 100% correct...

The AU (AKA AUO) is just the manufacturer - AU Optronics.

Hey

I got my monitor last thursday, Model number - m240W01 V-2, I plugged it in, when I boot up the computer, the picture flicks on and off for a split second, and continues to do so every few seconds until it gets to windows where it doesnt work at all! Happens on both the dvi and vga ports. I thought it might be graphics card related but it happens on my other PC as well? Sound like a dodgy panel?

Thanks

Ives

Might be a daft question, but would I notice the difference between 800:1 contrast and 300 cd brightness vs 1000:1 and 500 cd brightness?

You can guess why I am asking. I would hope that next week Gibbo might call another "TWO" but if he does not and the difference is not grand, what would you say, should I go with the lower spec? For £ 30 less?

Worth the difference (provided the panels are OK)?

Cheers,
Paul

is it me, or am I right in getting the feeling these screens aren't all they were cracked up to be? :p
I don't think that's an unfair assessment given the number of people with faulty screens (not talking about the TN panel situation) but then Digimate are a budget manufacturer so it's partly to be expected. I had a Digimate 19" a few years ago and it had both randomly flashing pixels and lines of green pixels and had to be returned, so they're not top of my list of manufacturers ;) If you can get a good one though it's amazing value.

Ives0201 i have the same problem but it works if i switch it on and off about 50times:/ waiting for tuesday so i can phone ocuk and get a replacement...

im happy cancelled my rma , as the backlight bleed fixed itself had a look around on web and isnt uncommon apparently they can take up to a week after shipping for the lcd to settle to normal levels.

Still not ordered one of these yet lol.. seems too good to be true.. saving for the Dell one now, just not sure if tis going to be a 24,27 or even a 30" screen lol...

It isn't. These are panels which are used in BenQ's and LG's 24" range. It's no lie.

I had to RMA mine in order to get it, but once you do, it's worth it. Seriously. Knowing you got a £400 monitor for £230 is a great feeling.

Quite right, Rambo. I have one screen right now that my wife is using and it seems very much the same quality as the the Dell 2407 only half the price.

So far as I can see the monitor consists of the panel, back light and all, and the electrics to connect it to the outside world. A budget manufacturer still having the same panels has little to do in manufacturing so I don't see the budget monitor argument as holding much water.

Warranty, dead pixels, having to send it back to get a good one, colour representaion, all these matter to me as its going to be used for Photoshop. So not 100% sure what to do any more, just when i make my min dup, something like this comes along lol...

Hmmm, risk it, dont risk it......

Will go sleep on it :)

lol

Lol, risk it man, although saying that, I "risked it" and got a TN. :D I Wasn't too fussed though, I knew there was an element of risk when I ordered, just like I knew ocuk would arrange collection and refund me within a few days if I receieved the wrong panel. What I wouldn't do though is continually keep requesting replacements until I receieved a VA, I simply haven't got the time or patients for that carry on. I'd say it's worth a punt atleast once though, if you get lucky you'll be laughing, if you're unlucky you'll be refunded.

Spoke to OCUK today and they said send it back to them.........can I claim back the postage seeing as thought it is not working out of the box, as they didn't mention anything about collection? Sorry, not had to deal with the whole RMA thing before!

Thanks

Ives
