Got one today.
It's good for the money but no where near as good as a 2407wfp. But those are nearly twice the price.
I've calibrated it with a proper colour sensor and it seems OK. The controls are wierd. Contrast and brightness seem to affect the overall hue of the display too.
The backlight is way too bright though. It's a shame it can't be turned down. If it could (to eliminate the bleed) it'd be an excellent screen.

I'd give it 7 out of 10. Nice try and for the price you can't really go wrong. By no means perfect though.
 
Contrast and brightness seem to affect the overall hue of the display too. - yeah i have that on both monitors you change it and it starts to go green.
 
Ordered mine on Tuesday after 4 so I guess I 'll have it tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get the pva monitor. I choose this over the samsung 245b (24"). Hope I made a good choice :)

Is there a monitor I can buy thats plug and play, no faffing around with calibration or whatever.
I can't believe this thread, so many pages.

This monitor is pretty much plug in and play.

Took me like 20 secs to find the right colours and havnt changed them since.

Its an excellent monitor. :)

It's recommended (well, with these monitors) to let them run for a 'set in' period. People have had backlight bleed disappear with normal use after about one week.

I really don't understand the way manufacturers do this, especially when these monitors cost a decent amount more. Even Iiyama's budget TN monitor comes pre-configured with an average E delta of 2. I suppose their rationalisation is that most folk don't know their gamma from their elbow, so they don't see the point. The vast majority of people don't have access to a colour calibration tool, let alone know what one is. Amateurs and people who want colour good fidelity but don't have the means to achieve it would be interested in a monitor that comes pre-calibrated to some degree.

The only folk who have colour calibration tools generally don't care what the monitor's initial settings are because they can get it nicely configured later on.

I know that you can't get a monitor spot-on without driver level colour table alterations, but it'd be nice if manufacturers could at least give it a go. When you see premium monitors shipping with e deltas > 6, it takes the proverbial ...wee.

I hope that, one day in the future, monitors and their specific panel types will be identifiable by the OS, which will then find all potential calibration profiles and ask the user to choose one. I.e. you would be almost guaranteed a good (not saying perfect) calibration regardless of monitor, revision or panel type as long as there existed a profile for it.

Because I'm a noob, I didn't and still don't 100% understand calibrations etc
But I think I get the jist of it.

I've got a one coming today. :)

Just a mention on back light bleed, my LG226 monitor had horrible back light bleed so much so I sent it back but it was deemed I was being too fussy!

To be fair to it, its now a very even hue. I agree they need some run in time.
 
One anoying thing with mine I found last night is that when turned off but still connected to power, it produces a very high pitched whine! Quite quiet but quite anoying!

What about when turned on? I'd send it back if it did it when turned on...

You don't have to calibrate any monitor, they're all pretty much plug in and you're done these days. Of course you can calibrate them if you feel the need.
 
Sorry if its a silly question but how do I find out what panel I have?

I've pulled it out the box and can't see anything other than the model number.
 
Cheers, after you press MENU and +, without sounding thick, is there something you DONT want to see, or is there something you are wanting to see? I see some people have said they have found that the panel they have on the menu seems to go into others, is theer a web site for this or just google away?
