BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

ok that makes sense but i wouldn't buy one at this price considering it's been 50 quid cheaper and it probably will be again.

That's the obvious drawback to such a marketing technique. However a lot of people don't see the low price and a lot of people don't want to wait. Whats irking me is the advert in the top corner keeps telling me 199.99 + vat, yet it's £214 + vat.

My guess about the price fluctuations is that lately more people have got the Samsung panel (the one that could be found in the Eizo monitors) and as a result (given the prices of these monitors, above £ 600) the price has gone up. As soon as the majority of the panels starts coming from AOU again, the price will dorp.

Of course I do not have the statistics to prove that, but it makes some sense to me.

Cheers.

My eyes don't like this monitor at all, I've had headaches for the past two days from a few hours of use. I feel like I'm constantly straining to read text etc. :(

It may take a while to get used to. It depends what you are coming from.

I sit about 3-4 feet from mine and find the text a bit small, due to the very fine dot pitch on this monitor. This was a big difference considering i used to run 1024x768 on a 19" crt.

Try changing the dpi settings in the display properties. You don`t need to up it by much to make a difference. Alternatively, just change the default icon and menu text sizes. This will cover most of windows, but not everything. The dpi setting is more "global" although it can mess up the way some things display. (Nvidia moitor for one)

I think Vista is a bit more user friendly in this respect. Maybe other Vista users can confirm, as certain default texts in XP dont change and are tiny on 24".

Hope this helps ;)

How come it says the screen is £199 at the top of this page and yet when you click on it you find the price is now £214.99....

Still, its a good screen, but lets get the prices right on the pages please :)

Well it's here. First impressions, it's very large.

Paul: No, the Yuraku one.

However some genius thought it would be a good idea to include every cable you'll ever need (Including a HDMI & VGA one) and no DVI cable. So i'm just popping to the shops, needed a mouse anyway, and i'l report back later.

Received my second replacement today and it's a VA with no dead pixels or faults so far :)

I have moaned a bit about not receiving the right monitor, the first one being TN which I guess you could say was partly OCers fault for not checking them, but the second monitor had a manufacturers fault and wouldn't switch on, and OC replaced both really quickly so all credit to them :)

[edit] jinxed it, one dead pixel :p

I have a dead pixel on mine as well but its tiny and so decided to keep it. I never notice it unless im looking for it and a friend looked for it but didn't even notice it, so its no big deal :)

They seem to be VA and HDCP.

Well it is definately a VA panel. So i don't have to send it back anywhere. It does have HDCP though im not sure of the practical benefit of this. Everything still looks like a screen to me.

Pictures and review to follow shortly :)

Oh and from what i can tell, not one dead pixel.
