BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

PVA = Matt panel

TN = Glossy panel

Note both have glossy frames.

@ Wmega, I believe that monitor 'drivers' only function is to name the monitor in windows. This was certainly the case with my Dell Ultrasharp 1907FP, which had a small .inf file, which identifies the name and optimum resolution of the monitor in Device Manager only.

Thanks Vect0r!

One thing I cannot fully understand is how Digimate would ship monitors with TN panels inside if they announced the specs on their site as VA ones.

Is it possible to go back directly to Digimate and get the replacement from them or should you do it via OC? After all the three year warranty is with the manufacturer.

Cheers,
Paul

I initially received a TN panel from OCUK and they replaced it with a VA, no trouble at all. Even refunded my return postage! Can't beat the service! :)

Not sure how OCUK received a mix-up of TN/*VA panels, although I think Gibbo mentioned the reasons earlier in the thread somewhere. Don't really care as they were quick to replace with excellent customer service.

If they were still £179.99 + VAT i think i would have silenced my common sense voices and purchased one along with a Spyder2 or similar.

I'l sit and wait for now.. Though the pull of 1920 x 1200 is getting very very great..

Definitely do it through the retailer since Gibbo has already stated in this thread that OcUK will swap all TN panels for VA ones and cover postage. If you go through Digimate you'll have to get into a discussion with them about viewing angles and the screen not meeting specifications, and it's just a less certain outcome.

Thanks,

I will do it this way should I need to. I hope to get a VA panel in the first place. I should know mid next week.

Cheers.

Doesnt Ocuk do a dead pixel/VA panel screen check?

Would glady spend £20-30 quid for a quick check and hey its 100%profit for a company like Ocuk.

For the people in the 'know' and been looking around the web, it sounds like Ocuk should follow suit ;)

If someone orders a dead pixel check, OCUK open the monitor and check it and it has a dead pixel, it will be returned into the stock. If you didn't pay the premium for the check, you would therefore be more likely to get one with dead pixels. It's like holding you to ransom, if that's not too strong a term for the threat of a dead pixel :)!! I guess if OCUK could return the ones with even a single dead pixel back to the manufacturer then they probably would offer it. I believe Dell offer the warranty themselves in some cases which is why you often see this offer on their monitors.

Looks like HDCP support also :)

This isnt the only super dooper large thread around the www ;)

Apparantly prad.de forums has a 106 page thread with just as much details on there.

Basically there are 4 monitors that all look identical, the one on OCUK, this one (Yuraku) and 2 more that are not sold over here (Novita & Iolair). This one is said to be the original, the other 3 are supposedly clones of the Yuraku. All the clones have had TN models appear but this one has not had any.

I borrowed that last part ;)

Tbh its not a major difference if one ordered the dead pixel check would still be little cheaper then ocuk current deal but at least you would know you got a PMVA-HDCP and no dead pixels for your money rather then any lengthy RMA/Exchange process......
