BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

hehe. soz it din't help. tbh I don't know much about how colour settings work I just kept changing them will I had something that looked good. but its a bit harder if your colour blind.

Mattdav, could have sworn we had a conversation earlier. But it must have all been a dream ....... Lol. :D

Will hopefully have an X-Rite Eye-one calibrator in my hands within the next couple of weeks (Thanks again to Badass for the comprehensive reviews!) so i'l let you all know how well it calibrates. Bit hard to post screen dumps but i'l think of something!

Nope. Most panels will have a few dead/stuck pixels.
I've owned 8 LCDs and never had a single dead/stuck pixel/subpixel, so no they are not common. Out of those 8 screens the only one with any problems was funnily enough a Digimate about 2 years ago that was faulty out of the box and I returned it.

Let us know how it good it is, im after a colour calibrator as i do photoshop but unsure which one to get.

Its a shame my other screen picture is just so much brighter otherwise i would prolly be happy with this one. But compared to my other DGM the pic just looks dull and lifeless lol

Cant you just increase the brightness or contrast settings to get the same image brightness level?

Will do. I'm after it for the same purpose, though my recent prints from the lab weren't drastically different with this monitor. And still no substitute for test prints, but i'l feel a little better knowing what im looking at is accurate (enough).

I wish mate, you can put the brightness and contrast to full where it washes out all colours and its not as 'bright' as the other. Must be the light behind the screen.

Looked into the avenue of a replacement? If i had two identical monitors side by side but the picture was noticeably different that would irrk me something rotten.

Yeah i have, i have to package it up and send it back as they wont collect it. Just have visions of it taking forever and then them testing it and saying 'err well it works so stfu and pay us lots more money and even more shipping' thing is its not a 'small' difference, its big. I will take another pic of them side by side in a bit provided it comes out properly on my cam.

Here are the two monitors side by side, the pics are flattering really as its a lot worse to look at. Is this worthy of RMA though or will they test that monitor works and just charge me to send the same one back?

Also, doesnt anyone have a rough idea how much i will have to fork out to send it back and if i just do it at post office or need to sort something like city link out? Never RMA'd anything before.

I'd try raising a webnote and see what they have to say. If you don't ask you don't get. ;) Make sure you include a link to that picture, so they can see the problem.

Obviously they can't guarantee 100% like-for-like monitors, but in my opinion, if you have differing panels, they should swap one of them so they are both the same.

When I RMA'd my monitor, they were going to charge me £22 (something around that figure) which I got refunded when they realised the monitor was actually faulty.

Did they collect your monitor then or how did you get it to them? I was told i have to send it to them.

Wonder why they arent collecting mine man, think i will call again tomorrow and ask for collection.

Well, earlier in the topic, Gibbo announced that OcUK would collect the item free of charge if the panel was incorrect or faulty (which mine was). It may be different in your case (since you just have differing panels rather than a 100% faulty item).

Be careful when RMAing that dull monitor. OCUK may well tell you that the monitor is fully functional and that all you should do is change the brightness/contrast settings.

Definitely include a link to that pic in the webnote, so that OCUK know exactly what they are looking for when they are checking the monitor out in their shop.

If they feel that they have failed in finding anything which they deem to be a fault, they will return it to you and charge you for the postage.

If you want to RMA it and arrange delivery yourself, do a google search for 'parcelforce'. They do a collect and deliver service. The 2-3 day delivery service is £14.99.

Good luck man, I can see this dull monitor is irritating you.

Aye thats what is worrying me, them stating that there is no fault. You can put contrast and brightness to max and its still looks dull compared to the other monitor on 50%. This monitor used to look like that and has subsequently gotten darker, it cant do a nice white these days but i cant afford for them to screw me over for shipping and then say its okay and send it back to me :/
