You haven't used an NEC 20GX2... the AS-IPS panel makes these VA's look like muck!

OK on a whim yesterday I bought a Yuraku 24" to have a play with. I currently have a 20.1" NEC with AS-IPS panel, it doesn't get any better than that. I'm sad to report the difference between the panels is like comparing a Lambo and a Citroen... the PVA is bloody awful in comparison. I spent an hour tweaking it and can't get it looking anywhere near as good as my NEC, and that wasn't exactly played calibrated to the Nth degree. Blacks on this Yuraku are light in comparison, and the worst thing id I can't seem to find a happy medium between the brightness of the display and the strength of the colours. If you don't want uber-glare the colours look like ****, if you want decent colours the display glares too much.
I'm returning this thing first thing on Monday, utter tripe. I'll wait for the new 24" NEC S-IPS panels rumoured to be appearing this year... because after my NEC 20GX2 these things seem like poverty spec in comparison.

i just cant see them being that much better. sadly i know the limitations of LCd all too well lol. maybe your yuraku wasn't a good example? what panel was it?
You're right. It is like comparing a Lambo and a Citroen. You pay £4,000 for a Citroen. You pay £200,000 for a Lambo.
Granted, the price difference isn't that extreme, but you see where I'm coming from, right?
Richdog, is the NEC panel THAT good?
You only can't see them being that much better because you haven't seen one... the NEC's are known for being the creme de la creme, nothing compares to them at all... especially the NEC 20GX2. There is nothing wrong with my Yuraku and it's a VA panel, it's just the difference in quality is blindingly obvious after directly comparing the two. You really can only understand when you've seen the NEC... they are worlds apart.
Nothing like that extreme! I'd rather have the 20.1" AS-IPS screen by far even though it costs a bit more than the 24", this monitor is going back first thing Monday.
This isn't normal ?
A bit more? Aren't those NEC £600+ Screens? Unfortunately i couldn't pay 3 times more for a monitor
Edit: How do you rate them compared to Eizo/LaCie equivilents?
