BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

One fantastic thing i have noticed is the amount i don't notice the edge of the screen anymore. My face is perhaps 2ft away from the screen and i just seem to always be able to see screen! Even with the big black bezels, it's really rather nice (Obviously not to the same degree as a 30, but in my little workspace its howge!)

Edit: Feel stupid for asking, but are these monitors actually 8bit? Or 6bit with dithering? I swear im noticing a lot of banding in certain things recently.. But i can never tell if it's the screen or the game!

Having second thoughts, are we...?

:D

Haha no i'm afraid not... but it's making my desire for a 1920*1200 monitor increase tenfold. :D

This is a decent monitor, I can see why it's so popular as for the money nothing touches it at this resolution. Good value.

Does anyone have any experience of returning these direct to digimate?

My 2nd one has packed in after about 4 months of use, with a solid horizontal red line right down the screen and after a call to OC-UK I was told to return it directly to the Manufacturer.

Called them on Friday and Citilink collected the faulty monitor today, so it's so far so good but my concern now is whether the replacement will be a VA or TN panel and if I have any comeback if the manufacturer sends me a TN panel as a replacement when I bought the monitor on the basis of it being a VA.

If it were a TN panel then it would not correspond to the specifications, e.g. viewing angle 180/180. Then you should be able to argue that they have given you the wrong monitor.

Good luck and please, post your experience. BTW was your monitor working great till the point of breakage?

Hmmm i am still waiting to have my monitor replaced at the moment. Have sent two e-mails and a webnote regarding it over the last week but am still waiting on a response.

Argh, bought a Desk Mount for it and just got it home and ready to be attached when i notice that the screws are too small for the monitor or it does not have the threads to hold them in place....

Anyone else had this trouble?!

God, there are a lot of whingers on here aren't there  :p

Good timing with my post above though.:D

The VESA mounts are indeed into the plastic. But since the monitor weighs no more than a bag of crisps* that's not a big deal. Mine just screwed on nice and tight with no problems at all. If you were planning to buy a load of these to use in an office full of grunts then I'd think again. If you plan to wall mount it, adjust it once and then leave it for 12 months until SWMBO makes you clean your desk then it's great!!

It's also a nuisance that you need to faff about to remove the leg. For me that's a price I'll pay to save the £150 that a Dell would cost.

For anyone who wants to spend more money then sod off and buy a Ferrari branded one - feel free to try and impress us all with how much you can spend

This is a *VALUE BRAND* monitor that kicks the stuffing out of most others on the market. It has minor foibles - deal with it.

* a big bag, I'll grant you...:eek:

Long time ago but do you have any idea what size screws are needed?! the ones that have come with my desk arm are too small and just drop straight thru the plastic holes :/

Hi all,

Thought I'd add to this thread. Mine arrived a few minutes ago. Lovely picture out of the box - it had obviously been opened and checked. Absolutely no light bleeding that I can see. Zero dead or lazy pixels.

Also the Menu-+ buttons show the panel to be AU-M24OUWO1-V2, which by my reckoning is the same panel from the BenQ FP241VW. I'm extremely pleased with it - I'm presuming by the BenQ's price that I got a good'un :D

Last thing, major thanks to Gibbo and Phil - both went beyond the call at 5.30 last night to ensure I got it today. Exceptional customer service - I salute you both !!!

Had Monitor for 2 weeks now.

Must add my experience. Read this thread from front to back and then took the plunge. Moving from a Mitsubishi 19" CRT, as Photography is my other hobby i was concerned about picture Quality and colour balance. Very, very happy, tested the monitor for dead/stuck pixles, no problems. Picture out of the box very good. After calibration with SpyderPro 3 its now spot on. I recieved the correct panel, picture is spot on even at very sharp viewing angles.

My son uses it for Game play and reports no problems, Scales very well on BF2 as my graphics card wont run @ 1920 x 1200.

Recomended

Your first year of warranty is with the place you purchased it from, which is OCUK. I'm pretty sure they can't fob you off to tell you to go back to the manufacturer after only 4 months.

Hi Gibbo,

Could you please acknowledge whether or not you received my e-mail as requested to sort out my replacement? I had no reply and i cant find an imessage option on forum. The e-mail on my forum profile is also wrong but wont let me change to my gmail lol

If you didnt receive my last e-mail let me know and will try it again later when i finish work.

Thanks.

i emailed him also and got no reply:0

Use the webnotes on the main OCUK shop contact page!

I did and my monitor has been picked up today, i just hope they are picking it upfor the fault i reported and not just assuming i am claiming that it doesnt work.

As for telling us to use webnotes, that is what i would normally do....unless specifically asked to e-mail which i was lol.

Will let you guys know how i get on with getting replacement.
