BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

Would I notice a dead/lazy pixel or is it something you have to run a program/tool to check? I've just picked my 24" OCUK model up (with the Benq screen!) and it looks perfect. Does this mean it is?

If the screen is perfect to your eyes, does it really matter what anyone else thinks?

You will probably need to turn the entire screen a single colour to find the dead pixels. Ive never seen a dead pixel, but some have reported that a dead pixel on this screen is as big as a spec of dust, so its pretty small.

Well, ive had a bit of a bad time with this monitor, and will now take my business elsewhere.

I had the monitor picked up as it wouldnt display properly at native res, so it went back. Then, they said the monitor had a rattle when they recieved it. This was obviously done in transit back to them as there was no rattle at all when i had it.

They sent it back saying they would not replace under warranty. Ive now asked for a full refund, and i will not be taking delivery of this monitor.

Im gunna get the yuraku monitor instead. Not heard of any problems with those monitors, and its pretty much the same spec as the OcUK one anyway.

Shame, feel quite let down really :(

Have ocuk agreed to give you a full refund?

Not yet, but i expect one, and will take it further if i dont. They have charged me for testing and redelivery of the product after me asking for a refund in the first place.

Why would i not get a full refund anyway?

Edit:

In the RMA status it says "CL Claim"

From the sounds of it, the monitor was probably thrown about by the courier, causing some "bits" to become disconnected/broken inside. Their argument will be that the warranty/rma does not cover this.

Similarly, if your warranty wont hold under those conditions, neither will a request for a refund.

EG. if you buy a TV, throw it off the top of a building and then return it to the seller, in a totally broken/smashed up condition, the seller wont give a refund or offer a replacement, as it was mistreated. This is the reason why they probably didnt uphold your warranty claim and this would also be the reason why they wouldnt agree to a refund.

It should be interesting to see how this pans out. Keep us updated.

I did phone them yesterday and they will be refunding the money from the monitor. They have said theyre doing a recall from the couriers.

So, i will be getting a refund, if not, i will seriously take this further. I have witnesses that were there when the monitor was being set up, and once it was set up, too, who know that it wasnt rattling at all.

I was charged today £22.27 for some reason. I have emailed asking for a complete refund of the monitor price at the price i paid, the delivery costs, and whatever this £22.27 is thats been debited from me today.

City link also have on their website that the delivery point was closed at 10.30AM today, which isnt true as its my dad's workplace and he has been there since 7.30AM, and has checked security footage back to 4.30AM this morning and theres no sign of any city link van appearing..

Will keep you updated with anything that happens.

Its strange that they are happy to give you back your money (which will put them at a loss), rather than despatch a new monitor to you.

It doesnt make business sense.

Maybe not but im taking my business elsewhere, and thats what i requested.

Still waiting for a reply from my webnote.

well tomorrow i will be taking delivery of my 4th monitor as they keep going back with buzzing faults. Can only hope to finally get a monitor worth keeping.

I ended up buying the Yuraku. Initial impressions are pretty good.

Only problem is when I plugged it in the resolution was set to 1680*1050 for my previous monitor and the screen was all green and ghosting like hell. but when I knocked the resolution up to 1980x1200 everything was fine.

Had the same problem when I run a game at 1650 res. I already had to take my first monitor back as it wouldn't turn on, this is the second one. Any issues, perhaps it drivers.

I've been thinking of getting one of these but I'm not sure if I have the patience for that many returns. :(

Ive had mine since the 29th November and Ive no problems with it at all.

Its been transported to and from uni around 6 times and its all good.

Great monitor. :)

I'm already starting to regret buying it.

I'll have a play around with it tomorrow. But the issue with running at 1680 res isn't right. If I can't fix it I'm getting a refund and going with a tried and tested brand. I was nearly going to get a 22" monitor but that I was stupid not to get the 24"...

As always it seems, you get what you pay for.

Turns out it was a problem with the refresh rate. All is ok now.

With DVI it's great. sharp image, nice colours. But over VGA it's not so hot. Maybe that's becuase of the size of the monitor. Perhaps DVI comes into it's own with larger screens
