BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

Turns out it was a problem with the refresh rate. All is ok now.

With DVI it's great. sharp image, nice colours. But over VGA it's not so hot. Maybe that's becuase of the size of the monitor. Perhaps DVI comes into it's own with larger screens

What was the problem with the refresh rate? My OCUK 24" seems to be limited to 60Hz regardless of screen res which I thought was odd. Then again, I'm a CRT guy so I'm not clued up on these new fangled things :p

Hey im typing off my brothers account and my monitor came yesterday which I had wanted for a birthday present. Got it yesterday and it was absolutely fine. Checked the panel and its an LG premium VA panel. I had a quick look for dead pixels and couldn't find any. Also hooked it up to my xbox and it looked beautiful.

A big thumbs up from me!, OC managed to turn my RMA around in just 4 working days, they kept me fully informed as to progress and my new monitor is working fine.

The picture is stunning, if you get a reliable one (fingers crossed) they're seriously good value for money.

The new one was missing the instruction booklet, warranty card and cable clip so I guess they checked it before despatch, I'll have to drop them a webnote to chase this up.

The only trouble is, the DVI input is so much better than the VGA that it looks like I'm going to have to shell out for a new KVM switch and OC don't seem to stock DVI compatible units.

Well I can set it to 59 and 60, strange I know. When set at 60 I get the issue mentioned previously, at 59 it's flawless. Perhaps it's a driver issue.

It certainly does.

1920x1200 is pushing it a little with VGA.

It's not a huge deal I don't suppose was just a little disappointed by the VGA performance when connected to my Linux box. But I bought it mainly for gaming and through DVI its pretty good. Maybe a high quality cable would help?

It's a shame monitors don't have two DVI inputs.

60 is the max that DVI can support at that resolution, it's a bandwidth issue. Doesn't really matter as 60hz on an LCD is not bad at all (no flicker due to different way of "lighting" up pixels) whereas on a CRT it would be a nightmare.

sorry for being lazy (127 pages is a bit much!) but can anyone tell me the wall mount dimensions for this please?
again i apologise if it has been mentioned before.
thanks

I'm using mine over VGA because I couldn't get DVI working (not sure if it's cable or graphics card related??) but the quality is still excellent. I'm using a fairly expensive VGA cable though that I used to use with my 21" Sony G520 CRT.

Update, rma, apparently some didnt have the thread added!

If you are happy with the panel itself, I would seriously have a think about RMA'ing it. If you RMA it and you get a monitor with the holes in the right places, but there are problems with the panel itself, then you will be kicking yourself.

Also, you do realise that you have to remove the stand first. Once you do this, you will use the holes used for the stand to fit your VESA wall mount? If you look earlier in this thread, someone explains in great detail how to do this.

Have you tried removing the stand from the monitor?

Really want a new monitor to take me from my 19" LCD but don't have the world to spend :(

Really think I'm going to end up with this monitor even though it does seem to have got a bit of bad press in the past...

Has anyone got one recently and had any major problems?

I understand that a bit of back light bleeding and maybe a dead pixel or two might happen but is there anything reallllly major that should put me off this completely?

Cheers, Doug.

How does the DGM compare with the G520?

this is my first TFT and I'm really impressed so far. It is much sharper than the CRT was (at 1600x1200 100Hz) and colours look a lot more 'fresh' than the CRT which now looks a bit dingy in comparison. I don't game, so can't compare smoothnes here, but the test I did earlier in the thread shows that this monitor has effectivly no imput lag. Films look sweet and mine doesn't have any noticable backlight bleed :)

Obviously the size is better to, both in terms of extra viewing size and considerable reduction in volume and mass over the CRT!!

Hi Gregeff,

Can you give me the link for your input lag test? I have tried to go trhough your posts but there are 128 pages in this thread only.

Thanks in advance!

cheers,
Paul
