BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

Just got my replacement today from OcUK (I had one which was fine other than the buttons on the front didn't work at all and the LED was dead)

Great screen especially once calibrated (software) - I have the one with the same panel as is in the BenQ FP241W.

Quick note on DGM, when I first phoned OcUK they told me to ring DGM as they would come to collect it and give me a new one at the same time and it would therefore be faster than sending the screen back, but DGM said they wouldn't do this and would only take it away and repair it.. hence the replacement from OcUK instead.

Yay the place I got it from who had a TN panel said they will give me a refund as they couldn't guarantee a VA panel would be delivered, which is fair enough it must be annoying for the people dealing with DGM and these random panels.

I'm gonna order from OCUK later, guaranteed non-TN then aye? ;)

Seen those, but if I really wanted a larger screen I'd just plug in my 1080P 37" , think I'll keep with the smaller, but ultra sharp 24". :)

I'll be using mine in a spare room for the kids to use mainly for PC, TV, Films and maybe future Xbox 360/PS3 .
Would like some more info on the Hanns-G though, viewing angles are 170x170 which is quite good for a TN. How that looks in the real world though I don't know, would be great to find out from an owner.

they called up saying none of the ones in stock were VA, so i had a choice of going for something else, waiting, OR refund.

so naturally, i went for the refund, and as soon as it comes, OcUK are getting my money :)

Yeah I had a similar conversation with them. They couldn't guarentee that I would receive a VA panel and that they would give me a refund. They collected it today. Don't know how long before I get my money back though?

One thing I found quite funny, with the DGM monitors they're selling, is the fact that on the box it clearly states 180x180, and yet they are distributing TN panels that must be no more than 160x160 and very poor.

I've made sure people are aware of this on thier forums and submitted a damning review :D

hehe nice idea, im going to do the same thing :)

What settings are you using?

Do you find the screen to bright?

brightness 41
contrast 55

calibrated using SuperCal for OS X

I might re-do it as I've lost a bit of detail in dark areas but tis my own fault as I prefer my colours deeper and darker to even slightly washed out. I think it's brilliant overall, I miss the USB hub on my Dell 2007 but you can't have everything - panel is the most important thing I would say and it looks pretty good too with the shiny black surround.

I do wish I could kill the LED though! It's got blu tack over it atm...

Hi,

As I said above they are PVA - we have had, and continue to get, the odd random TN in with the typical 500 unit batches that we order. Where these are spotted they are sent straight back to DGM for new replacement, equally any customer receiving one - which is very rare these days should let us know and we'll fix immediately.

Cheers,

Rupert
