That's my main concern!

I bought on of these from e*uyer a while back, it was cheaper BUT it turned out to be a TN panel. I RMA'ed it and bought one from OcUK.

I know of at least 6 people who bought this monitor from OcUK. None have dead pixels.

I too found the screen a little cheaper else where but but they don't qurantee VA panel like OcUK do :rolleyes:

As far as I know it's a mixed bag though and people have had different panels within this thread ain't they?

And if you read the thread it was a DGM mix up and we replaced anyones screen up to the superior VA panel. ;)

All of our stock is guaranteed VA. :)

A few people got TN panels to begin with, but OcUK swapped them out for the proper thing. Now OcUK only send out *VA panels. People do seem to be getting slightly different panels from each other, but definitely not TNs any more.

EDIT:beaten by him :p

Ah right okay then, glad to hear that. :D

I'm thinking of getting one of these but I'm a bit concerned about the brightness of the power LED and also the brightness of the screen, which as far as I understand you cant adjust via the brightness control :confused:

Isn't it the case that VA panels are generally brighter than TN panels?

Ok im asking a silly question i expect but whats the difference between a TN and a VA panel.

"TN = Twisted Nematic - These are 6-bit screens that cannot really reproduce 16.7 million colors. They can only reproduce 262,144 colors; 64 shades of Red, Green & Blue. Thats (2^6)^3 or 64^3. All the other colors are created through a process called dithering. These typically have fast response times (for gaming) at the expense of color accuracy. These are inexpensive monitors.

MVA = Multidomain Vertical Alignment
PVA = Patterned-ITO Vertical Alignment

MVA and PVA panel are the most common 8-bit LCD screen around. They are relatively slow compared to TN, but offers better color accuracy. Good viewing angles and contrast ratio. However not all MVA and PVA panels are 8-bit screens. S-MVA and S-PVA are typically the ones that are 8-bit panel from my research. S = Super.

8-bit LCDs can truly reproduce 16.7 million colors. That's because there will be 256 shades of each color (2^8 ); Red, Green & Blue. Therefore 256^3 = 16.7 million (actually, a little more).

S-IPS = Super In-Plane Switching. These are high end and really expensive LCD panels. All these panels are 8-bit panels and comes the closest to CRT image quality. From what I've read they also have very good response times as well. LCD monitors geared towards graphic artists who demands the most color accuracy are designed with these type of panels. That means the shades of color you see on the screen are the exact shades that will be printed out on a good color printer. "

I'm interested in getting one of these, but could anyone confirm they are wall mountable? And if so could anyone recommend a suitable wall mount that tilts up/down left/right?

In OcUK's description it says the monitor is wall mountable. OcUK also do a wall arm mount for monitors which looks suitable or a cheaper tilt and turn wall mount, no idea what sort of turning angles it would offer though.

Also I just got an email back from a competitor who was also selling the monitor cheaper, they confirmed with their suppliers that their DGM monitors have TN panels. So it looks like OcUK ones are worth the extra £20-30.

Cheers for the info.
As regards the competitor if it's the one i'm thinking of, I can't see how they can ship TN panels with a viewing angle 180x180? I thought no TN panel can have these viewing angles?
