BARGAIN - OcUK 24" with DVI (*VA Panel) for £179.99+VAT (This Week Only Deal!!)

Tbh Cavalino, its a cheaply built screen with a great panel, expect problems imo.

I sold mine on, the lack of HDCP, and utterly rubbish contruction is a real let down imo.Panel is excellent tho, but for me I wanted a semblance of build quality aswell.Dunno how you guys put up with the cheap stands and plastics, even the bezel is poorly fitted:(

I'll stick to my TN based screen untill the dells come down in price, angles arent really an issue for me.Still musnt grumble, <£200 for a 24", cant be bad:p

I didn't think anything was wrong with the build quality, sure the stand isn't great but the monitor itself doesn't feel cheap at all.

Plus I don't know about you but I don't buy a monitor to constantly feel it all the time so build quality really doesn't matter that much. It's not going to fall apart while standing on my desk.

Really doesn't feel any different to my old BenQ.

Edit: Sorry didn't mean to sound hostile. :p

Right - took a load of photos of it. Basically this entire thread really helped me out in choosing this and the links of photos were really handy for me to part with my cash so if it'll help anybody else make the jump for one of these fantastic panels then here goes ! :

Just as a reference this is the monitor I had before, 20.1" Dell 2007 FP :

Nice pics, you have the same bench as me and my speakers are of the same size as yours but are Tannoys :) now i want your key board but with out the dell sign any ideas from were i can purchase such a keyboard ?

ops they are Tannoys you have :D what a small world.

Mini-review.

Build Quality.
Alright I read reports about the build quality not being so great, especially the stand.
Well, I do admit the stand isn't great and the monitor does wobble, but to be fair we aren't going to be spending time flicking the monitor nor feeling it while it's being used.
I can tell you, honestly that the build quality is fine, it's not going to fall apart nor does mine feel like a cheap product, the stand tilts backwards and forwards but that's all you're going to get from it I'm afraid, it does the job though.

Screensize, Resolution and Image Quality
Well the monitor looks like a mammoth compared to my old BenQ 20", it's also far better in every way, sharpness, viewing angles and colours are much, much better on this DGM.

As for the resolution, it's pin-sharp and looks stunning, the colour reproduction seems very good, I whacked up the colours a fair bit during calibration but of course this is just personal preference to a degree, out of the box settings were fairly good although I felt I needed to whack up the colours and the digital vibrance using my video card.

I'd also like to mention I have zero backlight bleed.

Gaming, Dead Pixels & Panel
I have done a fair bit of gaming since getting the monitor, well I haven't noticed any blurring/ghosting of any kind, everything seems perfect to me, much like my old BenQ. However a few of my games look simply amazing in 1920x1200 compared to 1680x1050, Call of Duty 4 for example, everything looks razor sharp, it's truly a sight to behold.

I've been very happy with getting a VA panel as promised, which means the viewing angles are excellent. I can basically sit on the floor and look directly up at the monitor and the image is practically the same, I had a TN panel of this monitor before (competitor bought) and the viewing angles were diabolical.

I was also DELIGHTED to discover I had zero dead pixels, unlike my last DGM which was a TN and had 3!

Conclusion

I would without a doubt recommend this monitor, for the price it's an absolute steal. Make sure you get it from OcUK for the VA panel however as this VA version of the DGM trounces the TN version I had for a few days, even if OcUK is a tad more expensive on this item it's definitely worth it.

This is one of those cases where you should not be put off by the somewhat unknown manufacturer.

Pros:
- Great value
- Superb quality
- Big screen size and high resolution
- Great viewing angles
- Zero dead pixels, no backlight bleed
- Bezel is nice
- Comes with DVI/VGA cables

Cons:
- Stand isn't height adjustable
- Logo on the front of the monitor is a bit fugly

Good review. I wouldn't say it's "for the price it's an absolute steal." though. I paid £215inc for mine and I think that's a fair price. I wouldn't pay £250 due to the very poor stand a poor VGA performance. I does have a fantastic panel - more than you would normally get for £250, but the other aspects pull down its appeal as a whole package.

Hey all/OCUK!

Can we get some confirmation from the Dons that the initial teething problems that plagued this monitor seeemed to have subsided? Seriously considering getting one of these again since I RMA'd my last one about 5 months ago.

Nice shots above btw ;)

We did have a rough patch with the TN and general returns but it all seemed to happen around the same time so made it seem much worse.

If we count returning all of the TN panels when they sent us a bad batch a while back the total failure rate on this monitors is still very good, take it away and it becomes better.

We sell looooooaaddss of these and get a few back, but its nothing to be worried about and is no worse than the likes of Asus, Acer, Benq etc.

Hmm ok thanks Yewen.

To be honest I would prefer to order from yourselves @ OCUK since I trust you guys. There are those guys up in Yorkshire who are doing it for 30 quid less, but Im dont trust them tbh.

Any price drop on the horizon Yewen ?

There's a thing going on with the housing market and stamp duty at the moment, the chancellor gave a hint that stamp duty might be suspended for a while, making it cheaper to buy a house. It's stopped some people buying now 'cos they think they might get a better deal in the future.

Yewen won't tell you there's a price drop coming next week because it will stop people buying this week.

To be honest the stand doesn't bother me at all and I have no real issue with it, as for VGA performance I'm using DVI myself but haven't heard any complaints before about it. :)

hi i have Purchased the L2332WD-VA 24"
when turning on the screen the bottom of the screen flickers slightly for 30 seconds or so, also when turning of the screen discharges with a high pitch noise and a flash of the screen this is nothing i have seen in all the years i have used tft screens.
anyone have this problem

The thread title needs ammending to be less missleading, unless you could kindly provide me the link to buy it at £179.99? ;)

Thanks for this. When you say it wobbles, is it noticeable at all during general usage? And could you provide a link to your desktop background? It's pretty cool.

General question for people who understand monitors: is the 6ms response time good for gaming? I can see a few monitors listed with 2ms/3ms response times.

Edleake,

When in this week only, Sometimes they end up costing £207 or just over

So 179.99 + vat = about right price

(got mine all-in for £208 and odd pennies

Depends on your desk. If your desk is rock stable the monitor is okay but any movement of the desk will be amplified by the monitor's rubbish stand.

Like when using a steering wheel for example....

In which case does it look like the stand can be modified at all?

The stand can be made a lot more stable

Easiest i guess would be plaster of paris and fibre glass reinforcing matting shredded n mixed in

When set (could use release gellgoat on base so you can always remove the "weight") tape around the base where the newly put plster of paris is, this will stop it falling out as you mess about replacing the base to monitor

Myself when i can get time, I'll be smelting some ali down for a base, Mill a nice base and mill the up-stand

As i say theorectically the "wobble" if you slowly move monitor back n forth is the "base" giving a bit (try you'll see what i mean)

So anything to stiffen the base would help

I've knocked my desk with my knee a few times and haven't had it wobble at all, I think the stand is fine really.

The 6ms response time seems fine to me, haven't noticed any ghosting/blurring with fast moving video/gaming, somebody in this thread linked to a website comparing the response time with moving images with various other monitors and it had something like the second best results.

That'd be the wallpaper. ;)
