So, from the reviews, we can summarise that this is a great screen, even for the current price that OCUK are selling it for. HDCP compliance is unknown, however, it doesnt really matter as AnyDVD-HD can overide it. It cant do 1:1 mapping and the stand is very weak, but apart from that its a great screen.

One question: a lot of people are getting hung up on viewing angles. Now when I sit in front of the monitor, I look at it head on; I dont have a continually moving chair that necessitates me to have a monitor with good viewing angles. Could someone explain to me why they need their monitor to have good viewing angles? Thanks.

Is that a serious question, you're saying that if you really think about it you can't imagine why it would be important to some people?:eek:

I don't really understand how OCUK are "letting us down" (well especially those of us that got one over the weekend ;))

Gibbo said that the price was a massive cut for the weekend, and he would lower it 15 or so on this week only...

The ONLY thing OCUK could be argued with is that they didn't change the 24" from 199 graphic as soon as the deal ended.

At least, that is my 2 cents...

Remember, the monitor is better than ANYTHING even near the price point, even if it was 280 it would still be worth buying :)

Im baffled. Unless you have 10 people all huddled around the screen browsing the internet together or something, which I cant say Ive ever witnessed before in my life. Perhaps in 3rd world countries where people are seeing a computer for the first time in their lives and hence all huddle around a single screen.

So, if i set the XBOX 360 up to this will it look daft seeing as its not got 1:1 pixel mapping?

I dont want to fork out for a new monitor if it does!

Cheers :)

Assuming you are using VGA, use 1920x1080. Ok it will fit the entire screen (which I prefer, and I always do this even when I was using 1366x768 on my dell 20") BUT the quality is awesome.

I really am happy using this monitor for 360 :)

Personally if I get up and move about in the room, Id like to be able to still see whats going on my screen e.g. message pop up, or email received, or even watching a dvd from a distance perhaps. So viewing angles could be a crucial factor in those scenarios.

But also what I found (epsecially with the 22" Sammys), if you sit head on, there are no problems, but if you just slouch in the chair a little bit, then you can certainly see the top part of the screen starting to dither because you are effectively viewing the screen at a slight angle, and it looks as if the top part of the screen is darker than the rest. Same is true if your sitting really upright, but the bottom part of the screen starts to dither.

Horizontal viewing angles are not an issue that much, provided you are head on infront of the panel.

True but people monitor (*no pun...) the this week only and dont even know about a this weekend only offer?? I just feel they got a good pull quickly and now they are trying to maximise the profit. As any company should........ But with things like this thread title it pees people off tbh.

I think this answers it. What you are implying is that the viewing angle on some TN panels is so poor that you cant even change the angle by more than 20 degrees or so. I was unaware that TN panels were so bad.

Indeed... the thread title needs to be changed really...

I'll buy one tomorrow if the price is the same as it was at the weekend. I assume sufficient profit was made then, and given the interest and mild 'uproar' caused by the price rise (even though it was made clear it would happen), I think a one week good-will gesture would be gratefully received by all, PARTICULARLY when the spec of the panel was an unknown quantity over the weekend, so those that purchased were effectively gambling with their money.

I hope it's a good price - I look forward to seeing it tomorrow.

Here here..... Do people really think ocuk were making a loss over the weekend? Me thinks not!

what you have to remember is that even when sitting directly in front of the screen, you'll be viewing the top and bottom of it at different angles to the center. on a tn film, it only takes a little movement and your viewing a portion of the screen at such an angle that it effects the colors and contrast. this only gets worse the bigger the panel is.

You let us down OCUK

You really make me sick.

We all seen the deal and knew it was for the weekend only, why have OCUK let you down (big red text in your post) ?.

They can sell an item at any price they feel fit within legal limits and you can see fit to buy it or not.

Gibbo even extended it till Monday Midday.

I've got to agree, the price it was at over weekend was about top of my budget (never actualy looked into 24" but seeing it made it very tempting) I would definatly get one if the price could come down to a similar figure. must have missed it on monday if it came down at midday I rang about 12 oclock but it had gone up :'(

Bet you might have a different view if you had not picked up a cheaper version on the weekend tho :p

I agree tho, it still looks a good deal.

no:confused: id have still bought one at £260.
