Seven police officers injured in disturbances at gathering in Bristol following death of Baroness Thatcher: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-22077072

Any excuse to cause some trouble it seems.

This tells you all you need to know about the kind of people that think protesting the death of an old woman is fine.

Argumentum ad temperantiam.

That's incorrect. In this context there is not such thing as a universal truth, hence this fallacy does not apply. Some people were worse off under Thatcher, others better off. Was the coutry better off with her changes? It's impossible to say with certainty as we don't know what the outcome in the closed industries would have been without her reforms. As the overall impact of her administration is therefore highly subjective, an appeal to the middle ground remains as equally valid as either extream.

Subjective, pending on agreed measurable criteria it's entirely possible.

The point was just because some people think she's good & other think she's terrible it doesn't mean she fits somewhere in the middle.

She's both extremes & in the middle (pending on viewpoint).

"but attempts to paint her solely one way or the other are a disservice to history" - Is the part I was responding to (if that helps).

As it undermines the rest of the point he was making (which was in part valid).

75% say no so far to an outrageous state funeral, on this infallible internet poll.

If they continue with this farce, putting her on the same plinth as Diana, i vote we attend with either
Not sure if you are being sarcastic, but the poll isn't exactly done on a midway paper.

I'm sure the results in The Sun or Daily Mail would be highly slanted the other way.

Personally, I don't believe anybody should have a state funeral (as wasting that amount of tax-payers money on a single person (regardless of political preference - left or right wing) is a waste of money.

She'll still get a ceremonial funeral, and I am fine with that because it'll further wind up all the cretins celebrating her death.

Let people celebrate if they want... jeez.

No need to get fake outraged about it. They only make them self look stupid.

Im no fan of Her but i can understand why people are pretending to be outraged on both sides.

I got more important things to worry about today, than yesterdays news.

The funeral of Baroness Thatcher will take place on Wednesday, 17 April, Downing Street has announced.

The 87-year-old former prime minister died on Monday, after suffering a series of strokes.

The funeral ceremony, with full military honours, will take place at London's St Paul's Cathedral, following a procession from Westminster.

The Queen, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, will attend the service, Buckingham Palace said.

Lady Thatcher will not have a state funeral but will be accorded the same status as Princess Diana and the Queen Mother.
