Last I looked Thatcher was not guilty of genocide...

When you've finished intentionally missing his point maybe you'd like to consider an actual answer? There are a lot of people celebrating an ideologue purely for being an ideologue, as true as it may be it has no bearing on the rightness or not of her actions. With such an obviously devisive figure attempts to shame those with strong negative views into not expressing them as they wish smacks of hagiography.

The Tories hail how great she was yet stabbed her in the back when it came to Europe.

He views on Europe where right though.

Just shows how two faced UK politicians are.

Although the poll tax was probably not the right solution, the rates system at the time was outdated and unfair so needed to be replaced.

What a lot of people were unaware of at the time is that most people qualified for transitional relief so I has better off under the poll tax over the rates and the council tax.

I agree she is a divisive figure, I agree that people should be free to criticise such a figure, I do not agree that she can be compared to Hitler even loosely and I don't agree that Street Parties are really an appropriate way to express those criticisms.

If people are having street parties then I genuinely despair. How dumb must they be.

Could say the same for Hitler. Should we sympathise with him?

You are comparing someone who actively committed Genocide to someone who for better or for worse, helped restore Britain to at least a little bit of its former glory.

Honestly some of the things people have said in this thread baffle me, really.

Can't really expect much more from Brixton, Glasgow and members of the Anti-Bedroom Tax Federation, the Communist party, the Socialist party, the Socialist Workers party and the International Socialist Group.

i find it strange that conservatives praise the industrial-production based economy Germany has and at the same time they praise the job Thatcher did in the 80's which was to destroy the industrial foundations of this country. She may had guts but wiping industries such as shipbuilding, automotive, steel etc was wrong and i believe it will be felt in the future.

Imagine where RR would have been if it wasnt bailed out in the 70's, now have a look where RR stands...imho Britain had historic great companies which with a little help they could still dominate, a service sector based economy is in my humble opinion fragile to a myriad of factors, a solid industrial production based economy is better

thats just my opinion

Nope. Get your facts straight.

Since you are struggling to understand my point, I have re-written it to be more Universal, PG13 and otherwise generally acceptable.

Whether you love or loathe Winston Churchill, he was a prominent and strong Prime Minister, he did what he thought was best for the Country and whether that was right or wrong or a mixture of both is immaterial and a question for historians and political analysts....

could be

Whether you love or loathe Hitler, he was a prominent and strong Führer, he did what he thought was best for the Country and whether that was right or wrong or a mixture of both is immaterial and a question for historians and political analysts....

could be

Whether you love or loathe Homer Simpson, he was a prominent and strong Father, he did what he thought was best for the Simpsons and whether that was right or wrong or a mixture of both is immaterial and a question for historians and political analysts....

Need i go on?

Am i comparing Churchill, Hitler and Homer Simpsons? NO. I am expressing the blandness of your statement.

She wasn't universally good and she wasn't universally bad, opinions on which she was more of are going to depend on your experience and perspective, but attempts to paint her solely one way or the other are a disservice to history.

Very good point. I also don't understand why The Right is calling for a State funeral. Tearing down the State is what she is remembered for.

....

And for the "Up North" mining moaners, blame Scargill, he killed your industry, and they weren't proper mines anyway. Try a bit of Tin mining.

lol at tin mining jk :D

Plus it is a sad fact that the unions, particularly the figure of Scargill, probably did as much damage as anyone to this country. He was a power hungry, greedy, self promoting egotist.

Germany is also a service based economy (71.1% against the UKs 78.2%) pretty much every mature western economy is.
