And again your age when she was in power was?
I was working, paying a mortgage and doing very well.
So how were you doing and who did you vote for?

I just find it weird for those who were adults during the early 80's that they choose to ignore some of the facts that we faced during our daily lives - rioting up and down the country
Were you a fan of thatcher Robbo?
I wouldn't call myself a 'fan' but I do have some respect for her and I find all of the people celebrating her death to be extremely tasteless and cringeworthy.
Apparantly Ding Dong, The Witch is Dead is currently number 1 on the itunes chart![]()
Why? She ruined many lives. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Fergie is having a few more whisky's than usual, from what I've seen he absolutely despised her.
Especially being so passionate about football with her utter contempt for the sport and her clear role in the Hillsborough cover-up, whether it being directly involved or turning a blind eye I don't know how you could respect the woman before even looking what she did to everything outside football.
What is cringeworthy is a state funeral.
There's more to life than football (surprising, I know). None of this is black and white, she did things right and she did things wrong.
The celebrating of a death in this fashion is just extremely poor form and it sadly leaves me to draw rather negative conclusions about those doing so.
I do wonder why Thatcher gets the blame for this. It was the NUM that encouraged the strikers to be aggressive and unforgiving towards non-strikers.
True, there are 96 peoples lives who would still be blamed for their own death along with their fellow fans if it was up to Thatcher.
Also you should go look up some of the stuff on Ferguson on Thatcher, pretty interesting how it affected him, seems to have a lot of contempt for her.
Also plenty of horrendous peoples deaths are celebrated in this fashion and nothing is said because usually they are murderous corrupt leaders or whatever, but Thatcher just ruined peoples lives in different ways, I don't really view it as anything negative from those people celebrating, I'm not but to say I don't feel happy for a lot of people would be lying, should've served time for the Hillsborough thing alone, at least the truth came out before she died although I doubt she felt **** all remorse.
My beef is more people being left to rot after the pits closed rather than the strike itself. Subsidised puts were draining money and the change had to be made but whole communities were left to decay.

Oh I agree entirely, but there does seem to be a bit of blaming Thatcher for all ills rather than aportioning blame correctly.
Do you know for a fact that she knew what was going on and then purposefully blamed the fans?
If you have facts then great, but I think it a lot more likely that she was hoodwinked along with everyone else by the police force. It was a hard situation and if you had the police force on one hand telling you one thing and fans on the other (who rightly or wrongly had a reputation for hooliganism, and I mean all fans not just Liverpool) you cannot particularly blame her for the choice she made.
Retrospect is a great thing but I think it's niave to make her out as complicit in the deaths. I know it's an emotive such eft but it just snacks of another stick to beat Thatcher with.
As I say if there's documented proof I will happily rescind what I said.
The difference being, is that you can't compare someone dragging a largely unwilling militant work force out of the dark ages and into the modern era, with the actions of Hitler or Pol Pot.
