Batman Arkham City - Thread

Well, they finally released the patch and while it might not fix everyone's broken save (according to them), it restored my save files. I might have to restart anyway as I'm completely lost, in the middle of the game and I can't remember anything about key bindings and such. But at least it looks like the game is now playable even for us unlucky ones :)

My bug seems to have been caused by "Communication Breakdown" achievement as that was the first thing that popped on my screen when I loaded my old save.

Only getting 35-40fps average....not really improved much at all maybe 5fps max. This one extreme detail maxed at 1920x1080 4xmsaa and DX11 on.

Using Windows 7 64 bit too.

Yeah, I'm dipping below 30fps with my 6970. Best just turn the DX11 off completely and enjoy the game with DX9 and solid 60fps. Looks great even without DX11 gimmicks.

Also the game actually reset my DX setting with the latest patch. I had it on DX9 but after the patch it was back to DX11.

Patch is a joke 4 months to fix save game corruption still no global DX11 + PhsyX. Rocksteady have gone from 1st to last they obviously did not spend 4 months coding a save games fix thats ridiculous.

Just been through all the ******** updating my Green Man Gaming version... through the Capsule software they use it doesn't install it to the default GFWL location and therefore all the updates don't patch properly. Is a right pain in the ass.

Anyway, now it's working again, I ran the benchmark with DX9 and DX11 and got FPS rates of 42 and 25 respectively.

What am I missing out on graphical features wise by taking a 17 FPS increase and sticking with DX9?

Nothing really and is not worth waiting for another update to fix performance issues or a new GPU etc. IMO. You will be kicking yourself once you do play it for about 30 minutes or so and thinking "why didn't I play this when it was released instead of waiting for months!!!?!?" just like everyone who only got Batman: AA when it was on sale for like £5 after a year or so :p

Stand up close to objects like gargoyles, ivy's plants etc. to see some fancy bump effects and engraved detail, but you have to be real close and looking for the difference to actually notice easily.

Enjoy the game for what it is, great story, great combat/controls, great graphics at a smooth FPS even on dx9.

Seriously, it is one of the best looking games (and best for everything else IMO) that I have played and I am very impressed by the reflections in puddles especially when lighting is around the puddle, in fact it reminded me of BF 3 SP sniping mission with the neon sign and the rain, that is just how good it is :D

You can install the game anywhere, mine is on a totally different drive. The registry points to the install location so my guess is Capsule is not telling the registry where the game is installed.

Think I'll wait for this to go on sale for £5 then ;)

Retail patch is a major PITA. Had to repair the game install as it would not patch until done so. That meant another 16GB of data to reinstall from DVD & still has a DVD check after the patch which Rocksteady have said is not going away on the retail version anytime either!

Now the wait for the DX11 fixes & new DLC is supposed to be incoming as well (although like most I would rather they fixed the PC FPS issues with DX11 first & they had half the Nvidia devs working on this in Feb @ Rocksteady in N London so not sure if it will ever get patched to an acceptable std now either).

Apologies on bumping this thread, but is there a solid method for playing this on a secondary display?

I can't get it to swap to my HDTV when plugged in and extending my normal desktop. It seems to stretch weirdly onto the HDTV. Unfortunately any attempt to google this brings up nothing but results on eyefinity and spanning the game across two monitors.
