Batman Arkham Knight - Official Thread!

Unlocked the frames for 60fps and the game seemed to play fine, however it crashed after 30 odd mins. Afterburner shows that the frames were locked and steady at 60fps. All nvidia settings on and game on max @ 1080p.

Oh man, I can't deal with this crappy game. My SLI is for some reason not supported even after I got the drivers installed, Flicker, Crashes, Capped at 30 FPS even though I have two SLI 980tis. What's the point in having a high end pc anymore :(

Don't let them win by feeding us this crap, if I had paid for this I would be getting a refund before it's too late.

Yup I hope all the people who ordered on steam and are having issues are making good use of the new steam refund system! Heck, I would even be seeking a refund from cd key sites too...

I'm sure that once Rocksteady see all these refunds being requested, they will quickly issue a statement about how they are spending every minute looking into the issues and doing their best to fix the issues....

only if you enjoy upscaled 900p material at 30fps mate.

At least ps 4 users can enjoy a smoother and relatively bug free game :p :(

As I posted in the amd driver thread, this is how I feel about PC gaming in general atm

^^

Yup it is ****ing pathetic.

PC gaming in general is just a ****ing joke now

- crap ports that run like ****, locked to 30 fps, crash etc.
- being locked down to certain gpu brand because of things like gameworks, free/g sync
- etailers/manufacturers taking the **** with pricing
- awful QC in general especially for monitors
- nvidia and amd doing a **** job with drivers
- games getting downgraded in the graphics department
- day 1 dlc

etc. etc.

/rant

And a lot of the games issues are brought about because of pre-ordering.... If you pre-ordered and experience all these issues, you haven't got anyone to blame but yourself.

You make some good points about the state of PC gaming, we're our own worst enemy in a sense. I hope there is a changing of the tide and perhaps just one of these substandard games is going to cause a huge backlash and a change.

I for one never pre order

I can't even change the graphics options as it keeps crashing every time i apply them.

Edit - they seem to have applied with the last crash

Well, it's hard to disagree with you. People spend ridiculous money on GPUs and end up being shafted big time.

The way things are shaping up, I can't even justify buying a 970 because games either look like on the PS4 with a higher framerate and resolution or are utterly crappy ports that don't even deserve to be called finished products. There are only a handful of decent games that look and run like they were supposed to.

We've been fed all this bull about Witcher 3 looking absolutely fantastic and matching the trailers and stuff but just before the release we hear something along the lines of: "Well, it's going to look almost exactly like the console versions. Oh, but it's going to run at 60fps! And no, it hasn't been downgraded, only optimised! That's why you only need a Titan X to fully max it at 1080p!"

And it happens with almost every new release. Give me a break... That's why I hardly ever buy games anymore or get hyped about them. I've only bought GTA V because I was sure it'd give me a relatively painless experience and it's frankly one of the few games that look/play as advertised.

Yes, my evening last night after having it fully pre loaded was waiting for an hour for it to unpack (on an SSD) then trying to unlock the fps/play it only to find it would like to fully install everything again!

OLED TV + PS 4 is getting more and more tempting with each pc game release :(

If it wasn't for the price of each game id fully agree with you. Was visiting a friend this past weekend and 30fps on a console was far better than 30fps on a pc. Although not a patch on 60fps obviously but that seems to be a pipe dream on new releases now.

I give up. First it was crashing when changing settings, then on the benchmark and now in the opening cut scene.

I gotta agree here. The PC version of GTA 5, despite some weird quicks at launch with have since been patch, is a great example of how to do a port right. Yes, the game came out later than the "next-gen" versions unfortunately, and some people experience problems with the game, but for me personally it does so many things right. It looks great, and official footage from Rockstar is highly representative of the actual final product. Also, it has pretty good options, in terms of graphics, it's a highly scaleable title, meaning that "normal" (low) settings actually cater towards low-end machine, while there is still options targeted towards high-end rigs with ultra/advanced options. This all probably comes down the fact that there is such as huge budget for the game, but at least it was organised well.

Looking at this game however, it just looks like a mess. Those graphics options are appalling in terms of the amount of options available to change, and the amount of performance hit you take (e.g. AA = On/Off...). Not to mention it just doesn't seem optimised at all as this point for PC's. Albeit this may be down to a multitude of reasons, external developer worked on port, engine limitations (any reason for 30fps cap?), drivers (Nvidia's seem very unstable atm), etc.

Did the cut scenes stutter for anyone else? The pre rendered ones. I was running the latest Nvidea drivers.

I guess it is easy to make a decent port when you have 19 months to do it after the initial release of a game. If it wasn't GTA people would have been screaming that the PC got ignored for so long
